Chapter 21: Boarder Patrol

Doc Wen has asked me a thousand questions already most of which I refused to answer. I never gave the cure formula to anyone. People have loose lips and are easier to manipulate. He's no exception.

We did however agree for Ryder to spend four more days in the hospital wing to regain his strength.

It was killing him.

And I loved every minute of it.

I spent the first two days by his side. Today was the third day and I returned to him in sweats after my shower.

"Red! convince them to let me out!" he demanded ever impatiently as I walked in.

The nurse ran out behind me and I smirked at him. "No. I convinced them to keep you here." I informed and eyes narrowed he growled.

Taking a step back, out of his reach, I eyed him. "Don't you growl at me." I warned and he looked guilty, but still angry.

This time he looked up with big eyes. "Please. I'm bored out of my mind." he whined and I rolled my eyes at him.

Alec swung in then. "No can do chief. Doctor's orders." Ryder glared at him, but it didn't phase Alec a bit as he turned to me. "Ready to go?" I nodded.

"Go where?" Ryder demanded.

I smiled at him. "I'm taking your shift on boarder patrol." my voice was excited as I was.

Ryder on the other hand was ready to kill someone as he turned his anger to Alec. "Now way in effing hell is she going on boarder patrol! It's far too dangerous on the edge of the pack territory and" he began ranting.

I knew he wouldn't shut up so instead I leaned over and brushed my lips against his. Attention redirected, his words were lost and I was pressed flush against his chest.

"I'll be perfectly safe." I promised.

His grip was firm and defiant. "I won't take that risk." he declared.

Alec however sounded offended. "Alpha Ryder I would never let anything happen to Luna Red. I simply couldn't talk her out of it and decided instead to join her for her protection." He sounded so proud of himself by the end of his speech.

I rolled my eyes at him. "Geez you guys need to calm down. You do it all the time and no one gets hurt." I reminded, pulling free of Ryder. Both boys scowled. Time for the trump card. "Neither of you are in a position to oppose me." I reminded, hand on my hip.

Ryder growled displeasure, but knew I'd won. "I'll be back in a bit." I promised kissing him gently.

His arms locked around my waist. "Hurry." it was caught between a demand and a plea as he kissed me again in hopes I wouldn't leave.

Shaking my head at him I left. With Alec. We started out running around the boarder but more and more people began approaching us and we wound up walking with a group.

They asked about Ryder and a few other things, making small talk.

"Luna?" one guy questioned and I looked up curiously. "Why did you defend us from those rouges?" his voice held interest and a bit of hope.

I thought it over a minute and shrugged. "I felt the need to I guess." They smiled at me.

Another man walked up beside us. "What did that Rouge mean by his brother's scars? why did it seem like you two knew each other?" Damn. They did notice.

Talking a deep breath I pulled my sleeves further down. Hesitating, I started. "Well, in my world, the one I grew up in," I found myself struggling to find the right words. "When a rouge and a hunter fight . . ." They waited anxiously for me to continue. "It's always to the death." a moment passed before I continued.

"The only way I'm standing here today is by never loosing a fight. Some of them I came out on top but barely and heavily injured." A few growled but were mostly ignored. "I only lost one fight but I lived because I wasn't alone." I felt the need to push them away but tried to repress it.

"What happened then Luna?" a woman pressed and I wouldn't look at anyone.

My eyes focused on the ground I clenched my fists. "A little girl lost her family." all of them too stunned to move I took off on patrol.

I'm sure some of them would guess it. They would guess that the little girl was me.

Sorry, I know this one's short but I still have AP Summer work and am still looking for an editor. If I get the chance I'll edit another chapter and have it up this afternoon. Now we know a little of Red's past too. Wait till you leaarn the rest! Mwahaha. Anyway, hope you liked it!
