I heard him cry wolf again and shook my head while climbing the hill.

Mum would kill me if she knew that I was visiting him again.

I just laughed.

I didn't care anyway.

"Was he bored again and lied?", I chuckled until the view of his house entered my vision.

Red.

Sheep boy was red and all around him as well.

I smelled the iron stench from the blood that was in the air.

His sheep...

I almost threw up at the view of them.

And in midst of blood, corpses and smell, there was the shepherd boy laughing like a maniac.

He cried wolf.

"Is that what you meant?", he chuckled and turned his face to me, his eyes wide and his face distorted in confusion.

What I meant?

Nobody came for him when he really needed help...

"I don't know what you mean... ", I muttered while I had a bad feeling inside.

"A liar is a liar. Nobody would come for him", he laughed ironically, "When I actually needed them they weren't there", he chuckled and chuckled.

Somehow it made me sad but at the same time it was fascinating.

He was interesting even now.

"Sheep boy, should I- ", he cut me off.

"Get lost", he looked intimidating in the red sunlight of twilight.

You always tell me to get lost, when I am making the effort to sneak up the hill and visit you.

Even when Mum says no.

Still I will come back.

I turned my back to him and went off.

"Sheep boy! Don't you think this is the last time!", I yelled and ran.

Off to the village to tell everyone the story.

Surely, they would believe him now.

But I was wrong.

Nobody felt sympathy for him.

Everyone told me it's what he deserved.

My heart ached.

Why is everyone denying sheep boy?

They all looked way scarier then he ever looked to me.

And my mother locked me up in my room for leaving on my own and staying out in the evening.

"Don't fool around and stay away from that wolf", she said.

And I cocked my head.

"Wolf?"

"Yes, he is the true wolf!", and somehow, I couldn't help but smile.

How ironic.
