The morning air was slightly cold, and the sunshine reflecting off the condensation made the grass look sparkly. Usually we had cheerleading practice after lunch, but the captain insisted we have it first up today. She was lucky to be alive. There were only a few of us here, the others hadn't arrived yet.

I stretched my arms up and pulled one behind my head, stretching. My hair was tied up in a pony tail and my short shorts and tank top weren't much protection against the cold. Deciding I'd stretched enough, I let my arms drop and clicked my fingers. The other girls were in deep conversation, and I had no interest in joining them. Bored, I chose to keep myself entertained.

I swung my arms up and did a few front walkovers. The first time I'd watched the movie Stick It, it had been my dream to master gymnastics. It never really got to that point, but I'd learnt how to the basics.

I switched to back walkovers, doing multiple in a row. On my fourth one, I changed back to front walkovers. After two, I held the handstand, sighing of boredom. It was then that I noticed a certain blonde standing by me. I finished the walk over and looked at her, dusting my hand off.

"Caroline," I greeted with a smirk.

She had a determined look to her blue eyes and a recognisable pinch to her mouth that revealed she was set on getting what she wanted.

"Listen Marni," she began. "I know what we did was wrong. We should have told you. All you've done is help us and we just turned our backs on you. We were all caught up in our stupid plan to kill Klaus to have any consideration of what the aftermath would be. I know Bonnie and Elena don't share the same opinion, but Marni, I'm sorry. I hate what's happened, and I hate not being your friend. And you have every right to completely ignore me, and I doubt you will accept my apology, but I'm sorry."

"Well, that was unexpected," I commented. "But I appreciate the gesture."

"So... Am I forgiven?"

"I never really hated you anyway," I shrugged with a grin.

She squeeled and launched herself at me, attacking me into a bear hug. I stumbled back, catching her.

"Caroline!" I gasped. "Need oxygen- Can't breathe!"

"Oh, sorry," she apologised, stepping back with a sheepish grin. "I just missed you so much-"

"I have that effect on people."

"And whenever I saw you I wanted

so badly

to apologise, but I didn't know if you hated me-"

"Caroline."

"-but of course you hated me! We practically stabbed you in the back! Then I saw you with Stefan-"

"Caroline."

"-And found out that you guys were secretly plotting against Klaus, and that you'd probably forgotten about me-"

"Caroline," I sung, attempting to get her attention.

She stopped and looked at me. "Yeah?"

"You're rambling."

"Oh, sorry about that."

"Ah, I've missed you," I laughed.

It was at that point that Elena and Bonnie decided to arrive, both looking slightly confused seeing Caroline and I talking.

"Hey guys," Caroline greeted cheerfully.

"Hey Care," Elena replied hesitantly, her eyes flickering to mine. I stared forwards, blatantly ignoring her.
