I've been up for an hour now and I just got out of the shower, whilst combing through my damp hair I checked my phone, a text from Jack coming up on the screen.
J: You up for breakfast?
C: Sounds good to me
J: Okay, meet me at Mel's café in thirty minutes?
C: okay :)
Setting my phone down I walked over to my closet grabbing patterned jogger pants along with a plain black top. Shimmying my pants on I put my brush down and picked up my shirt pulling that over my head. Adjusting my shirt I fixed my hair and walked back into the bathroom. Applying two coats of mascara and Chapstick I was finally ready. Before I left my room I slid my converse on and grabbed my phone and keys along with my wallet.
The whole drive consisted of corn, cornfields everywhere. Getting lost was pretty easy if you ask me but thank god my mom bought me a gps before we came to Nebraska. Last night I wasn't exactly sure how to use it but now I'm slowly getting used to it. After awhile a cute little strip mall came into sight and there was a small diner in front of all the little shops with a sign that read 'Mel's Cafe' after making a right into the parking lot my gps informed me that I had made it to my destination, annoyed I shut it off and found a parking spot.
"Hey!" Jack greeted walking towards me.
"Hey," I softly smiled.
"Ready?" He asked motioning towards the restaurant.
"Yeah" I said pushing my hair behind my ear.
After I followed him inside we were seated at a small booth on the right next to a window, the lady took our drink orders and shortly returned with our beverages.
"So do you like Nebraska so far?" He fiddled his keys.
"Yeah it's nice.." I said sipping on my water.
"A lot of corn." I later laughed.
He just shook his head and smiled at me rolling his straw wrapper in his hands.
"Your a senior right?"
"No, I'm a sophomore.." I said sarcastically.
Jacks eyes shot open and he chocked on his orange juice.
"Jack I'm kidding," I said resting my hand on his.
His face quickly changed and he just stared down at my hand and looked up at me flustered.
"Sorry-" I said pulling my hand away placing it in my lap.
"No your fine," He said looking away.
"And yes, I'm a senior." I blushed.
He looked back at me and smiled genuinely, I couldn't help but look down at my hands as I felt my cheeks heat up.
"Jack?! What are you doing here?" Someone called behind us.
I turned around and saw the other Jack along with a couple other guys. When he got closer he looked at me and gave me a confused look.
"Shit-" Jack said staring at the approaching boys.
"Cali?" Jj asked bewildered.
"Hey," I smiled softly.
"Can we sit with you guys?" He asked looking over at jack.
"No"
"Yeah"
I glanced at jack giving him the evil eye until he gave in.
