You were never one to initiate anything because it seemed like too much work with very little payoff in the end. It was a good thing Tanaka knew this about you though, because he always seemed fine with initiating and planning things himself.
He usually planned dates and he almost always initiated affection, whether it was in private or in public. This system was pretty efficient for you two because he was naturally rowdy and upfront about his feelings, while you were quiet and reserved. You both had been dating for a while though, so the system seemed to be fine.
But even he had his limits.
"Y/n!! I want you to kiss me like you mean it!" Tanaka said in a commanding tone, even though he was standing proudly in the living room in only his dark pink boxers and white tank-top. He looked over at you and you doubled over laughing, stretching yourself out on the couch.
"Pfft! You sound like a volleyball coach Ryu!" You said wiping some tears from the corners of your eyes and cupping your mouth to hide your laughter.
He grinned sheepishly at you, before he tried again to be more serious. "If you kiss me right now...I'll give you five dollars!"
"You don't have five dollars...and isn't paying someone to do something like that...like...illegal?" You asked, wringing your hands together nervously as Tanaka continued to stare at you. His intense eyes trailed over your face, and you felt could almost feel the wheels turning in his head.
"Alright y/n, you're right! Just kiss me anyway though...because I am your b-boyfriend after all." He mumbled quietly his eyes traveling from you to the floor. This kind of vulnerability that Tanaka was showing you right now was rare and you knew you had to do something.
There was a momentary silence in the apartment you two shared, but you finally shattered the silence with a few simple words.
"You're so sweet Ryu. C'mere." You said and he shuffled over to you quickly, plopping next to you on the couch. You licked your lips once before pressing gentle kisses on his jaw and neck.
His face became red at the sweet and rare affection you were giving him, which just made you more confident. He sighed and leaned into your touches more and you moved to his forehead and cheeks, showering them with affectionate kisses.
"Ryu I'm sorry. I'll be more loving, cause you deserve it."
"I-It's ok y/n, I love you."
"Love you too." You said, as you pressed your lips to his. His hands traveled to your hips, resting there comfortably. The motions felt familiar and his hands felt incredibly warm and steady. His touch was also surprisingly gentle for someone as rough as him, which never failed to make you weak in the knees. It all just felt like him.
"Ryu..." You started to say before your voice trailed off as he cupped your face and pulled you closer gently. His lips crashed against yours in a heated kiss and you gasped.
His words from before came back to you suddenly. Kiss me like you mean it!
Oh I will Ryu...I will, you thought to yourself as you became lost in his sweet kisses and gentle touches.
