It's that time of year again

I can smell it in the air

The flowers are blooming

Classes are ending

Do you remember

How happy we were?

Do you miss those days?

Do you even remember my name?

I cannot step outside anymore

The familiar smell reminds me

Of your tender smile

Your gentle I love yous

The dust settles around me

As I enclose myself in darkness

Too afraid to open the door

I fear the colour green

Though I dream all I may

Of running barefoot through the field

You would be by my side

Lost in a sea of colour

But a year has passed

And you are still gone

They tell me I should move on

They're probably right

I try to throw open the sash

To let the fresh air in

But I'm hit with a wave of memories

Of empty promises and false love

I think I'll settle for the dust
