The look

I've only seen it twice

Both times took my breath away

It still amazes me even today

The magic it holds

The first time I was awestruck

Glittering gold with emerald sparks

A royal treasure that I cherished.

Behind it, a flame had ignited

Sending ripples down my spine

It was like a rush of adrenaline

Or a hit of ecstasy

My heart was pounding

It gave me power, strength

I truly felt alive that day

I had never wanted it to end

It filled me with warmth

In the cold winter months

And when it left, the hit wore off

My heart froze, and I was numb

The day it thawed was the second time

No longer gold but Hershey's brown

A sweet treasure

A young heart's biggest treat

For it was still very naïve

Glacier hearts melted under the gaze

The flame was intense

It beat alive with new purpose

The hit was back, stronger than ever

It's frightening the power it held

It's amazing what a look can do

It can make you or break you

They say a picture is worth 1000 words

The look is worth a billion more
