Ah, this is a long chapter. And one of my favorites, actually; I really think that this chapter worked out good. There are two awesome scenes in there ^^.

Enjoy

All June could see was dark. Every sound she heard was muffled, and there was a moldy smell in her nose. She had a headache and her body was sore. What exactly had happened to her, she did not know. One minute, she was arguing with Marc, the next there were dark shadows attacking them. Then everything went black. When she woke up again, she had a sack over her head and her arms and legs were tied in a strange, stretched position that kept moving—she had been tied over the back of a riding horse. She had said something, and someone hit her; obviously, the rider did not want her talking.

Though it was hard to hear through the sack, the repeated clopping of hooves told her the horse was galloping at high speed. Unfortunately, as the animal moved, so did June; her sore body was tied tightly over the horse, and she rocked with every step he took. She did her best not to groan though, knowing that she would be hit again if she did.

They rode for hours; neither the horse, nor the rider seemed to ever get tired, though June slipped in and out of consciousness. She did not know where he was taking her, but she hoped that they would be there soon, because she did not know how much longer she could take. She would have gladly ripped the ropes that tied her apart, even if it would mean falling of the speeding horse. But she had been bound in a way that she could not possibly reach her ring and take it off of her hand.

Eventually though, the horse slowed down to a trot and even slower, until it finally stopped. She felt how the rider got off, and how then her ropes were tied lose and she was dragged off the horse as well. As soon as she was on her feet though, her arms were bound behind her back, once again making sure that she wouldn’t be able to take off the ring that kept her from tearing up her bindings. The sack was kept on, so she could not see where she was being led to.

She stumbled over steps and every turn, the man behind her yanked her aside without warning; she fell down more than a few times and she was very disoriented. By the time they finally came to a stop, she had no idea where she was or from where they had come. All she knew was that she was underground; they had descended many stairs, and it was chilly here. For a moment, her mind wandered to the dungeon of the castle of Dew, but she quickly dismissed the thought; there, it did not smell so foul.

Suddenly, she felt a hand touching her shoulder. It was cold and gave her the shivers as it slid over her back to her other shoulder. There, it stopped. There were a few muffled sounds, voices she could not make out. Then, they took off the sack. The light blinded her eyes; all she saw were a few dark blurs, moving flames in the background.

          “-is her.”

          “Good. Is she injured?”

          “She isn’t bleeding.”

“She will be, in due time.”

“She was with Longeway, wasn’t she?”

June squinted, trying to make out the shapes. Two pale men were standing in front of her—vampires, she soon realized as she noticed their sharp teeth. The stench in the dungeon room came from them, just as Maya had described it. The torches on the walls revealed nothing but a single door, that was blocked by a third vampire, who walked around her, taking in every side of her. He was licking his lips.
