I wake up to my alarm blaring at 6:00 a.m.

One more day. I thought with anticipation.

One more day until my date with Avi.

I'm more excited than I should be.

"Kirstie, get up! Breakfast is almost done!" My mom called through the door.

Holy crap, Avi will be here in 20 minutes! Have I spent this whole time thinking about him? What's up with me? Do I like him now? Or are we just friends? Buddies? 6th period pals?

My thoughts are interrupted by my mom.

"Hello? Kirstie? Earth to Kirstie?!" My mom called again.

"What? Yeah, I'll be down in 15!" I called back. What to wear? What to wear?

Perfect! I thought as I picked my perfect outfit.

My "Perfect" outfit consists of a mint green, knee-length dress, my white cardigan, and white flip-flops. Perfect! It's supposed to be about 80° today. By the time I finish my hair and makeup, I hear a knock on the front door and rush down to answer it before dad can!

Open it to see Avi in a comic-book-themed shirt with words like "BLAM!" "POW!" Written all over it, black jeans, and red high-tops.

I was going to wear those shoes today! I thought, now regretting not doing so.

"Good morning, Avi!" I greeted him with a smile.

"Good morning, Kirst!" The smile!

"Come in! I think breakfast just got done!" I offered.

"Thank you. You have a lovely home!" he said looking around. Of course he complimented our home. He is the perfect gentleman.

"Oh, who is this young man?" My mom asked, walking into the living room.

"Uh, mom, this is my close friend, Avi Kaplan. Avi, this is my mom."  I introduced them.

Don't do something stupid, mom. I know she's going to trip or something!

She almost does while walking over to us, but sticks the landing!

" Hi, I'm Kirstie's mom! Pleased to meet you!"

"Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you too! Now I know where Kirstie gets her beauty." He says smiling, then looks down at me at his side. My face feels redder than the towel on the counter!

"Thank you," we both say.

"You're welcome, ma'ams!" ...that cheesy grin!

After breakfast is done and over, I go get my bag and Avi and me are on our way to school.

"Your mom's really nice." Avi starts some small-talk.

"I'm sure yours is too!" if he is this polite, he mother must just as polite, if not more.

"I would like to think so. Maybe you could meet her sometime?" he asked hopefully.

"I would love too, when could I?"

"Is after school today okay? I don't have any after school stuff."

"Me either, today is perfect, Avi." I smiled.

He smiled politely back at me.

I feel a cold breeze and a shiver, I should have known.

"Here, you're cold," he said as he wrapped his jacket around my shoulders.

"But you'll get cold-"

"I'm fine," he's too nice to me. He stands closer to me and wraps one arm around my shoulders and stopped us to embrace me in a big warm hug. "I really care about you, Kirstie," he said sincerely. "You know that, right?" I nodded yes. "Good, never forget that, Kirstie Maldonado."

He held me closer, if possible, as I whispered, "I will never forget that, Avi Kaplan. "

We continued walking to school with our fingers laced together.

Are we dating? No, can't be, he hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend..yet..This is all so confusing!
