After

I sit at the table and eat my piece of toast quietly. Alex and I have been home for two days and it has been so peaceful and wonderful. The front door opens to reveal Alex walking in smiling with a newspaper in his hand. He walks over and sits next to me and shows me the paper. My eyes start to water once I see George's picture. 'Local boy, George Mills, Just seventeen, Hero at Dunkirk.' The subtitle says. Alex kisses the top of my head as I read the article about my baby cousin. "He was always a brave one." Alex says smiling at me. I nod my head and give Alex a small peck on his lips. "Yeah he was." I say and cut out the article and put it into a scrap book.

"Your mum would be proud of you." Alex whispers wrapping his arms around my waist from behind me. "Your mum too." I start leaning back onto Alex's chest. Alex chuckles and kisses my neck gently. A moan escapes my lips and I pull away. "Not so fast." I state turning around to face Alex. He gives me a innocent look and I laugh rolling my eyes at him.
