The weekend had passed by, and was uneventful. Now it was Monday, and I was getting nervous about school. Hopefully Cedar Creek would be a refuge for me. Hopefully I could blend in with everyone else, but I couldn't get my hopes up. Lately everything hadn't been working good for me.

I stood in front of my mirror. I was wearing my new white dress shirt with the blue pleated skirt. I left my room and got some breakfast, I wasn't feeling that nauseous today. I had my hair curled in perfect ringlets, and my makeup was carefully applied. I was nervous. My hand was shaking as I was driving to school. I had to start thinking of something else.

The first thing that popped into my mind was when the results came back from the pregnancy test. It wasn't shock when they said it was positive. I seemed to getting use to the negative things that happen in my life. My mom started crying when she got the call about my tumor. I tried to tell her it was going to be ok, and that it wasn't cancer yet. That night I sent up a prayer to God, hoping that if he was listening, asking he would help my mom and take away the tumor.

I wasn't to sure about God. I mean.. When I was younger my mom and dad took me to church. I went to Sunday school. I was raised where God was always there for me, but I didn't really believe it. Now after all that had happened lately, how could I believe in someone that would let me go through this.

I felt confused, but pushed out those thoughts as I reached the school parking lot. I arrived 30 minutes early so I could set up my locker and find my class. I grabbed the sheet of paper with my locker number and class schedule, and headed for the school. I walked through the hallways, searching for my locker. I was surprised that nobody was in the hallway. My arms were full of stuff, and I could barely see where I was going. I glanced down at my sheet again trying to find the locker number.

I was thrust to the ground by an unseen force. Everything went flying out of my arms. I was sprawled on hallway floor. I was glad nobody was around to laugh at me. I started to gather the things around me when I noticed a pair of hands helping me. I looked up, and my eyes met with a boy I recognized as Brian.

"I'm so sorry for running into you. You're Quinn, right? Christian's new girl." Brian said with a smirk on his face.

"Yeah I'm Quinn, but Christian and I are just friends?" I said wondering why he would think we were anything more.

"Right, sorry." he said handing me my stuff. "Do you need some help?"

"Yeah, I do actually. Can you get me here?" I asked pointing to my locker number on the paper.

"Sure." He said with a smile. "It's right around the corner. He lead me down the hall, to a smaller section of the school. There were only 2 classrooms and a small row of lockers. Brian tapped the locker I was suppose to inhabit for the rest of the year. I set down my stuff, and opened my locker. It was a full length locker. I put in my shelves, and put up my white board. I stuck pictures of me and my parents on the door, and some frillies and dodads to decorate it. I put my notebooks onto the shelves, and grabbed my binder. I was ready. I shut my locker feeling a sense of accomplishment. I was surprised to see Brian still standing next to me.

"Do you want me to show you were your class is?" Brian asked. I nodded. The hallways weren't barren as before, but alive and full of people. They all looked the same as they scurried to get to their class.

Brian led me to a classroom in the main hallway. He waved me off. I entered the room, and didn't recognize anyone. There were a few seats scattered here and there. Class didn't start for another ten minutes, so I went up to the teacher who was sitting at her desk.

"Hello, My name is Quinn. I'm the new student." I said in a rather hushed tone.

"Speak up darling, I can't hear you." she replied keeping her head down and continuing on her work.
