Chapter 3: A vampire killer for hire

Recap:

I walked out of the cave to see the vampires turned around.

I then spoke softly, "Turn."

They then turned and took in the sight of me.

Hair tangled, a wet and sweaty mess, and both arms crossed firmly over my chest, leaving me lower areas exposed.

"How-" Henry began to say.

"Hello," I said cutting him off, "My name is Aubrey and I would love to know what the hell you are doing in my town."

They both looked at me.

Completely and utterly dumbfounded.

Umm... This is awkward....

"How- how are you-????" John started stuttering.

"Don't speak," I said sounding as if I carried an air of authority.

They shut their mouths and I heard them loudly swallow.

"How are you- female?" Henry asked.

"Long story. You first. Why are you here an why did you kill those girls?"

"Not us," John said, "something else."

I raised my eyebrows. They knew I could smell them right?

"And what would that be," I asked my tone taking on one of disbelief.

Henry and John shared a look and then turns back to me.

"Our bother," John said, "Joseph."

"I know you killed them," I said, " I could smell you on them. Don't lie to me."

"He's not lying," Henry said.

I have them a look.

"Explain," I told them commandingly.

Henry sighed, "Our brother enjoys what he is... to much. He fed on those girls... until.... until the point that they were going to die."

John shook his head then, "We got their to late. They were already dried free of their blood. Killing them was a mercy that we had to take."

I stood their mouth agape.

"Just a bunch of kids," I heard Henry mutter.

"Your brother... Where is he?" I asked.

"Still here as far as we know," John said.

"He takes on jobs," Henry said.

Jobs?

"What kind of jobs?"

"He's a vampire killer for hire," Henry said staring in my eyes.

A contract killer?

Are you serious?

Really, what the hell?

"And you didn't think to mention that first?" I asked them both in a deeply annoyed tone.

John twitched his eye.

This I could tell from the look Henry got, was the equivalent of an emotional outburst for John.

"I need to leave," I said.

John twitched his eye again and said, "I have a feeling we will be talking to you soon again."

And then I turned around and walked back in the cave.

I got down on all fours and started the change again.

When I finished changing and I was successfully in my other form I stated out of the cave.

The brothers had thankfully left and I started on my way.

Long day.

Time to go home.

Home.
