Chapter 32: He's back

Henry's POV

Xander and I were walking to the court room when a cop stopped me.

"You not allowed in here".

"Why isn't he allowed", Xander asked.

"He's the one who got Jake in jail in the first place you don't know what can happen".

"He's right, I'll see you soon".

On the roof of the courthouse

I was dressed as Shadow and was listening to the case.

"What do you want Captain Man".

"How'd you know I was here".

"I sensed you".

"How"?

"I don't know now sh".

"Jake Hart, as judge of this case, I here by...".

Should I end it here...Nah

"...Release you to live with your two sons".

I kicked the roof door opened.

"GOD DAMN IT"!

I went into the janitors closet and changed into my normal clothes. I stayed in there and cried into Shadow's jacket.

The next day

I woke up to someone screaming. I ran downstairs and saw my dad hitting Xander. I jumped on my father's back. He threw me off. I stood up and my ribs hurt and my arms.

"You hit him you hit me".

Xander's POV

"You hit him you hit me", I heard Henry say.

I remember I said that to dad.

Flashback

"You hit him you hit me".

I stood in front of Henry. Dad picked me up by my neck and threw me.

End of flashback

I went next to Henry.

"Look-".

Dad slapped me hard.

"We are not kids anymore, we're not afraid of you anymore, abuse us but we're not scared".

Henry's POV

I stood on top of the roof with my black eye. I stayed quiet when Ray jumped onto the roof. I jumped at his touch.

"You okay".

I said nothing.

"Well-".

"Just because I'm your sidekick which I didn't want to be anyway, doesn't mean we're friends, I'm a loner and it's gonna stay that way".

I looked at Ray and I saw the hurt on his face. Guilt overwhelmed me.

"Sorry, life problems".

"Me too".

"What are yours", I asked sitting on the edge of the roof.

"They might take my house away if I don't pay my bills, yours".

Should I tell him?

"My new friend Henry Hart has a father that abuses him and that's why I was listening to the court case".

"Life", we both said.

The next day

Xander was in his room listening to music while I was downstairs eating lunch. I really don't wanna go to school tomorrow with this stupid black eye. I wish my dad was still in jail. My dad walked in.

Oh damn, speak of the devil. He walked towards the sink. I continued eating my sandwich.

"Who put this in the sink".

"I did", I said quietly.

"It's not empty".

"Yes it is".

He slammed the bowl in my sandwich.

"Is it EMPTY"!

"YES".

He slapped me. I've had enough. I tackled him. Well tried. I tried to push him but he was stronger. He threw me to the ground and tried to choke me. I grabbed his face and he bit my finger. Hard. I screamed like I've never screamed before.

Xander's POV

"Secret, I feel you like a million miles away", I sang.

Through my music I heard a deafening scream.

Henry's POV

I started seeing spots when someone bust in.

"Jake Hart, you are under arrested for abusing this young boy".

"You piece of shit, when I get out, you'll wish you were dead".

Tonight

I jumped onto the roof and saw Ray. I tapped on his shoulder and he jumped.

"Sup".

"How'd you-".

"You did it, didn't you".

"Did what".

"Call the cops on Henry's dad".

"Yeah well-".

I hugged him.

"Thanks".

I felt him hug me back. The best thing I got.
