Chapter 9: Birthday boy down

Henry's POV

15. I'm only one year away from my drivers license. Today is my birthday and it's gonna suck. I combed my hair and went downstairs.

"Hey Ray".

He only grunted.

"Good morning to you too".

I opened the fridge.

"Nope you can't get breakfast the bus is about to come you should've been down here 5 minutes ago".

I closed the fridge, grabbed my bag, and went out the door.

At school

"Happy birthday".

"Thanks riles, nice outfit".

"Thanks, your Christmas present inspired me to wear it".

"All I gave you was a painting that I did and it was a purple cat".

"Yeah, but no one has ever put so much thought into something that they made and not buy in a store".

We walked into science class.

"So are you gonna have a party".

"Nah, I'm just going to stay home".

Before she could say anything, Mitch grabbed my shoulder.

"Riley, I'm a borrow hen for a second".

He pulled me out of the classroom and to his locker. He pushed me inside and slammed it shut. Yep, my birthday is going great.

At home

When I walked in I saw a monkey run upstairs.

"Well that's not something you see everyday".

"Gooch pet monkey is gonna stay for the night".

Makes sense.

"So Ray-".

"I don't have time to talk".

"Why", I asked.

"Because I'm a adult-".

"Are ya sure about that".

"That's it, go to your room right now".

"But-".

"NOW"!

I went to the stairs.

"I'm having the worst birthday ever, thanks for asking".

I marched to my room and found the monkey jumping up and down on the bed.

"Get. Off. My. Bed".

He went out my window.

"Shit".

I followed him outside.

"Here little monkey".

I climbed up the tree after him. Then I lost my footing and fell to the ground and everything went dark.

5 minutes later

I opened my eyes to see 2 people looking down at me.

"Henry are you okay".

"Yeah I'm fine my head just hurts".

"There's a cake waiting in the kitchen with a candle on it, wanna blow it out".

I nodded and followed Ray into the mansion.
