Ch. 10: Training

"Welcome to 'How to kick demon butt:part 1, where we will teach you to kill demons or die trying!" Alex said in a overdone voice. "Ha. ha. ha." I spat out. He did the usual cute smirk...ugh there I go again....

"Can we just start?" I whined. "Awww, but I made a speech" he said with sarcasm. I rolled my eyes. I picked up my bow from the ground. "I'm ready" I stated. "Okie Dokie.." he replied. "So 1st order of business, how to dodge attacks." he stated. "Sounds easy enough" I replied.

"But before that..some theme music" he said smirking as he pushed play on his phone. It began playing the Mission Impossible Theme...ugh he is hopeless...."Really?!" I asked. He just smirked more. Realizing he was serious, I decided to begin.

"So how to dodge?" I reminded him, "Right..." he drawled. "Um don't get hit" he said. "What?! That's it?!?" "Yep" he piped.

"So now demon immunity.." "Translation?" "What demons aren't affected by" he explained. "Demons are immune to bullets, poison, bebe guns, paintballs, blowtorches, and usually all metals excluding arrows, but nail files apparently work.." he stated. I laughed at the last bit.

"What now?" I said bored. "Archery practice" he said excited. I sighed grabbing my bow and arrows. "Ok...try to shoot this apple when I throw it up...and don't hit me" he said. I laughed.

I drew my bow and waited "Ready?" Alex shouted my way. I nodded. He threw the apple up the second I released my bow.

The apple came down about 1.65 inches above Alex's head when the arrow went throw it. The shot apple fell at his feet. "It ...and.. I... Bald...spot.." Alex stuttered. I Cracked up. "Alex, your hair look fine no bald spots" I said between laughs. He sighed relieved.

"Now, let's see if you can catch an arrow" he said. I guessed nail file training wasn't necessary... "What do you mean?" I asked. "You will catch an shooting arrow in midair with your hands" I gulped.

"Ok-Kay" I stuttered. I went to the other end of the field. He drew back the bow. "Ready" I said. He released the string. The arrow came toward me, I put my hand out...and I caught it...Wait?!? I caught it??!

Alex stood there in shock. "That was.." he started. "cool" I finished for him. He nodded. "I think that's enough for today" he told me. He walked me home. We said our farewells and I went upstairs to change into sweats and lied down in bed.

Before I fell asleep, I thought about the arrow...maybe I can do this....maybe I can be the hero...Maybe I can save the world....it's worth a shot...Lord, help me...
