Chapter Seven

I was woken what felt like half an hour later by the nudging of warm scales on my shoulder, and Viridus’ soft voice floating around in my head.

Cyris? Cyris? Wake up. We are here.

I opened my eyes groggily.

“Really? But we left like, 30 minutes ago!” I exclaimed.

The four dragons around me looked at each other, and then back at me.

“What?” I asked, confused.

Cyris.’ I heard Callaina’s voice, gently in my head. ‘It has been almost 4 ‘hours’ since you fell into your sleep.

My eyes widened in shock.

“Your joking!” I exclaimed, but then remembered just who I was speaking to. “No, dragons don’t joke.” I had been working on Ruber, but he still hadn’t got the full concept of it yet.

I checked my cheap blue watch. The little black numbers read-

“4:46!” I screeched in surprise. The dragons’ faces blanched.

“Sorry.” I apologized. “Just, I didn’t really expect it.” They nodded, and I noticed Viridus, Ruber, and Callaina had jumped back slightly. They each now stepped forward cautiously.

I gave them a reassuring smile, and their answering smile showed more in their eyes than their mouth, so I knew I was okay.

Argentum caught my eye, and nodded slightly.

I breathed out.

It is okay Cyris. We are right beside you.’ Viridus saw my worried expression and sent me a comforting look.

“Right. Let’s go find a troublesome German.”

Ruber chuckled, and even Argentum cracked a smile.

I breathed deeply. I was doing this for Bob. That thought made my blood boil.

“That jerk is going to pay.” I growled, before walking forward in what I thought was the right direction. A slight cough behind me stopped me.

Cyris? It is that way.’ That was Callaina. I turned to see four smirking dragons start to walk the opposite way I had been going.

I poked my tongue out at their backs, because I’m just so mature that way, and then ran after them.

This ‘Von Hue’ won’t know what hit him.
