The moment the train doors opened I stepped out and looked around, making sure to keep close to Hermione. For now she was the person I wanted to keep close to since she was the only person I was sure of as a friend. Though others in perspective would be Harry and Ron, but we weren't quite there yet. A massive figure stood out in the crowed.

"Firs' years over here!" he called out, his voice booming loudly.

I looked to Hermione who nudged her head forward, taking a deep breath I followed beside her. All the students who I guessed were first years as well surrounded the giant, waiting for his next instructions.

"Inna moment I will be takin' you all to the docks where yer will be taking the boats two at a time across the lake to thee castle where yer will be waiting for me."

I caught half of the words he spoke, his accent was thick and I wasn't used to it. I just decided to follow Hermione, she was smart she would know what to do. Just like I planned I kept to her side and we shared a boat to the castle. Everyone sighed in amazement as the castle came into view. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen - scratch that, it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Before my eyes could get enough of the view to be satisfied we floated through a ivy curtain and one by one the boats bumped to a stop.

"Follow me firs' years." The massive giant spoke.

He began walking off up a path before we took several stairs, several tiring steps up to another long path of cobblestone that led us to a pair of massive wooden doors. We were moments away, I was nervous.

"What do you think we will do once we get inside?" I asked Hermione.

"I believe we will be sorted into our perspective houses." Hermione replied, keeping her eyes on the door all the while.

We stopped for a brief moment as the massive man opened the doors to lead us inside. 5 steps inside and we were stopped. The familiar woman with the stern face and the massive man were talking briefly before the man walked off back out the doors he had brought us through. Our attention was now set on Professor McGonagall who turned to us.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments you will pass through these doors and join your classmates, but before you take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup." Professor McGonagall spoke.

After five minutes of a lecture directed moreso towards those that would be in Gryffindor we were led inside the Great Hall.

"Move along now," said a sharp voice. "The Sorting Ceremony's about to start."

I looked up at the ceiling and sighed, it looked just like the starry nights sky that we had just seen outside.

"It's not really the sky, its the ceiling its bewitched to look like it. I read it in Hogwarts A History." she spoke to me as we filed along the side of the hall.

We watched as Professor McGonagall moved toward the front of the room and placed a small stool town, ontop of the stool was a ragedy old hat.

"When I call your name, you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted," she said.

I tensed up nervously, I wondered what house I would be in. Just then I heard Draco being called up to the stool. I watch him sit down, that was easy enough. Then McGonagall moved to place the hat on his head, it didn't even go all the way on his head before it shouted Slytherin.

I heard Ron whisper from somewhere behind me

"That's not good! There isn't a witch or wizard that is placed in Slytherin that doesn't go bad."

I gulped nervously, what if I landed in Slytherin. I didn't want to be bad.

"Hermione Granger" Professor McGonagall called out.

She shot a nervous glance my way before she made her way up to the stool. After 2 minutes the hat spoke its choice.

"Gryffindor!" I clapped loudly.

"Harry Potter"

I watched him go up next, he sat down and the hat was placed on his head. I couldn't hear what was being said but I could see him looking nervous or troubled. After about five minutes the hat spoke out.

"Gryffindor!" It roared. The entire Gryffindor table burst into applause.

Everyone but a handful of people had been sorted now. I was trembling as I knew anytime it would be my turn to go. Just as I thought McGonagall called my name.

"Genesis Gryffindor" The entire room gasped. If they had no idea who I was they would now.

I trembled as I walked to the front of the Great Hall and sat on the stool. I closed my eyes as the hat fell over my eyes as it was really big.

Ahh the one we have all been anxiously waiting for. Heir of Gryffindor, certainly we all know what you can do. There is greatness inside you. Certainly placing you in Slytherin would be a loss, but the gain would be great. You would have the chance to unite Slytherins with the Gryffindors, but it wouldn't be a light endeavour....

Not Slytherin, not Slytherin anything but Slytherin.

Not Slytherin eh, well than might as well be GRYFFINDOR!

Everyone in the room - apart from Slytherins - began cheering. Smiling I stepped down from the stool and joined my new housemates at the Gryffindor table

A tall red headed male reached across the table and shook my hand, seconds later his identical twin did the same.

"I'm Fred and this is George" he began. "Welcome to Gryffindor house." His brother nudged him.

"Technically Gryffindor house is her home so we are guests." George bowed jokingly. "Thank your kind madam for inviting us into your home"

I couldn't help but laugh, he was pretty funny.

"No problem, I welcome your friendship."

Headmaster Dumbledore stood up and gave a brief speech, one of the things he said that caught my attention was that everyone that wishes to not suffer a painful death should stay clear of the 3rd floor corridor. Simple enough I wouldn't be going here as I didn't want to die. He ended his speech with a simple phrase.

"Tuck in"

Suddenly food appeared before us and I couldn't help but fill my plate to the point of rediculousness. Everyone, especially Ron looked at me like I was crazy. What could I say I was small but I had a mighty appetite.

"Its so nice to be in the same house as you" Hermione told me as she finished her plate of a simple slice of meat and a buscuit.

"I agree" I replied as I swallow the food I had been chewing.

It was also nice to have Harry and Ron in our house as well, now I would get the chance to know them better. For some reason I felt drawn to them. Weird...
