Dear Haly,
My favorite memory HAS to be the time in kindergarten when we had the argument on whether the word "the" was pronounced "thee" or "thuh".
I was for "thuh". You were for "thee". I start cracking up every time I think about how much we fought about this! Finally, we had to take it to your mom, who told us that it could be pronounced either way.
Of course, she was right. If "the" goes in front of a word that starts with a consonant, it's pronounced "thuh". If it goes in front of a word that starts with a vowel, it's pronounced "thee".
The odds are in my favor though! If you don't count Y, then there are only five vowels, leaving twenty-one consonants! So there's a better chance of "thuh" being needed than "thee".
Wow, look at me! It's been almost a decade and I'm still arguing my points!
But that is definitely my favorite memory. Thanks for giving me a laugh!
Love,
Kirsten
