As I drove to the ranch, I wondered who yelled and why. And why was Brody mad? I don't know if it's just coincidence or fate that we keep getting interrupted before our first kiss, but I do know that it's not going to affect our relationship any longer. I was going to talk to Brody at the reception.

I looked back in the rear view mirror of my truck to see Brody frowning in the driver's seat of his dark blue 1960 Chevy Apache. I sighed and shook my head, thinking of the years of practicing baseball in the fields, and truth or dare at the lake and why it lead to this sudden falling out between us. We needed to talk, fix it and just hang out like old times. I almost pulled over to say I was sorry for whatever I did, but I didn't see the image on his familiar blue truck reflected in my mirror anymore. I frowned and soon my mind was clouded with worried thoughts. I drifted into the other lane but a horn honked me back to reality. I took the turn into the ranch and jumped out onto the gravel. How I missed this place! I've had to be kept at Melanie's house in town instead of at the ranch with my dad and Brody for the wedding details. My bare feet hit the gravel and I winced at the sharp pebbles under my feet. I grabbed my heels from the backseat and slipped them on grudgingly. Melanie and Ashley were already here as was everybody else. Great. I ran as fast I could in the stupid heels and somehow arrived at the front door without stumbling. I swung it open as I ran upstairs to change into the white lace sundress Melanie bought me last week. I slipped on my boots and unwillingly left my hair in it's intricate twists and loops.

As I jumped off the stairs and rounded the corner, I ran into a group of men huddled around another man holding something. I couldn't quite tell what he was holding but I recognized the large, strong figure. I sighed and ran through the kitchen and stumbled outside. I expected to see Brody sitting and talking with Ashley or my dad, but my eyes scanned the whole audience and came up with nothing matching Brody's freckled face and inviting blue eyes. I walked nervously over to my dad and whispered a question;

"Have you seen Brody? I haven't seen him since back at the church..."

"No, Annie, I haven't. I thought he was with you." he said, his tone becoming more worried as he finished the sentence. He threw his arm over my shoulder and reassured me, "We'll look for him once everybody leaves, okay honey? He won't go anywhere far, he's stuck to this place just like us."
