Chapter 2- Oh Boy!

Beep beep beep!

Beep beep beep!

Beep beep beep!

I groaned as I woke up from the sound of my alarm clock. My head was throbbing and all I could do was to hold it with both hands as I rolled to my side. I curved into a ball when a sudden ache spread in my abdomen. My alarm clock kept ringing as I groaned in pain. My head hurt, my abdomen hurt, and my legs hurt too. It was like I carried a thousand bricks the night before.

When door creaked open. I peeked through my hands and saw my brother entering my room. He immediately shut off the noisy alarm clock and hurriedly went to my side and knelt down. He moved my arms away from my face as he looked at me worriedly.

"I'll bring you to the hospital" he was about to stand up when I clutched onto his arm.

"No" I shook my head. My voice came out rough. Maybe it was because of the screaming I did last night. As the events last night flashed in front of me again, the corners of my eyes burnt with threatening tears. "Water please," I croaked.

He hesitantly nodded as he stood up and ran out of my room to get me a glass of water. I knew he really wanted to bring me to the hospital, but I didn't want others to know about this. Surely, they would ask what happened to me. That's what I was trying to avoid.

I pulled the blanket away from my body and looked down at my attire. I was still in my red dress. The jacket was properly folded on my bedside table.

The door opened as Joey reentered my room with a glass of water in his hand. Thanking him, I took it and drank half of it before I placed the glass on the bedside table. I noticed him took a deep breath before giving me a small cheeky smile. It looked forced, but I understood. I knew there were tons of questions in his head. Still, I couldn't help but crease my forehead. He was weird with that smile. I knew something was coming up.

"So. Hospital is now out of the choices. Therefore, plan B it is! Now, get your butt out of the bed, go change into something comfortable, then proceed to the kitchen because big bro will cook you breakfast." He said enthusiastically before jogging away and out of my sight.

I couldn't help but chuckle at his enthusiasm. The pain was still there, both physically and emotionally, but I ignored it. I didn't want him to see me like the wreck I was last night. It would just ruin the day. His jolly character alone already comforted me. Why ruin it?

I stood up and entered my bathroom. Looking at the mirror, I studied my appearance.

I looked like crap! My hair was messy, my eyes were puffy, my chin was scraped, and my left cheekbone was bruised. I looked down to my arms, I had few bruises, but that was it. Good thing I had a jacket last night. Or else, my arms would be scraped too because of the hard pavement and the bad guys hovering above me. I began to undress. When all my garments were removed from my body, I immediately took a hot shower.

After showering, I dried myself and got dressed. It was a school day but I didn't really feel like going to school after what happened to me last night.

I wore a light blue t-shirt and short shorts. I hissed in pain when I slipped on my shorts so I sat down on the edge of my bed and checked my legs. I gasped. I had so many scrapes on my legs. My right knee has a large scrape too. I also had bruises.

I rushed to my bathroom and got the medical kit then proceeded to cleaning up my wounds. I pulled on a loose brown jeans to cover my wounds and scrapes there, but I was sure that Joey had already seen it last night. I covered my bruises with make-up to hide it from my parents if they happen to be downstairs. But I doubt they were still here, Joey promised last night; he would have warned me if Mom and Dad were home. And I knew he would hold onto his promise.
