Imperfect but the Best

I was a child, an innocent who couldn’t stand on her own,

But he gave me his hand, lifted me up, and showed me the way,

I was a child, fragile and small, and afraid to be alone,

But he was there to guide me, never leaving me astray,

I’m a teenager, confused and unsure of my decisions,

But he’s there to give me advice and tell me what’s right or wrong,

I’m a teenager, prone to doubts; stuck with hard situations,

But he inspires me to get up again, have faith and be strong,

He’s a wall to lean on whenever I feel helpless and weak,

He’s a shoulder to cry on whenever tears threaten to spill,

He is witty and wise; a Webster as old as ancient Greek,

He’s God’s best and irreplaceable gift; priceless, if you will.

This is for the best dad on the planet,

Would you please accept this simple sonnet?

The best gift I could give to my father is not something that has to be bought or something that has to be ridiculously expensive. For me, it’s something with effort that comes from the heart. So I did my best to write this poem. It’s simple but heartfelt. Happy Father’s Day!
