Sorry I didn't upload! This book is coming to an end in the next few chapters, thanks for all your support. Would you like Carmen and Jay to end up together or not? And if they don't end up together do you want a sequel?? Comment below and tell me your ideas!! I've changed Joe's name to Jake- that's the guy that spoiled their date in Chapter 5.

The song is Video Games-Lana Del Ray!
Enjoy!!

It had been a month since Jay left and the idea of him coming back was getting weaker and weaker. I’d tuned out of my surroundings ages ago. That’s all I seemed to be doing, tuning out staring into space.

“I think we should take her to the pack doctor, she gets worse every day.”  I could hear Mike and Alex debating whether they should take me to see the doctor about my “depression” after the second week I’d started withdrawing from everyone around me. I got up and started walking out of the room; the walls were starting to feel suffocating;

“Where are you going?” Alex called after me; I didn’t bother telling him because I honestly didn’t know where I wanted to go myself. Once I got outside I started walking into the woods, the woodsy smell attacked my nose, at once I realised what I wanted to do. I shifted into my wolf not bothering to take my clothes off, at once my body felt more relaxed. I broke out into a run not sparing a second thought to where I was running to, I shut my mind down. I let my body do the work, my legs bunched and relaxed rhythmically as I ran; I wondered what Jay was doing as I ran. It had been over a month and he hadn’t called me, I was too scared to. What if he didn’t want me anymore? Plus if that is the case I didn’t want to hear that, it would be too painful.

My run came to a slow as I came to the edge of the pack boundaries, I’d realised I’d run too far, I started jogging back home when a familiar scent hit me, it was Jake. The guy that had spoilt Jay and I’s date at the ice-cream parlour came towards the boundary lines flanked with two other huge wolves, I started walking back slowly. The last thing I wanted was a confrontation,
“If it isn’t Alpha Jay’s little mate. “I didn’t bother replying maybe he’d go away, which was more than unlikely,

"What’s such a pretty girl doing out here in the woods on her own don’t you know the big bad wolves eat little, defenceless girls?” with that Joe and his minions charged at me, I didn’t think twice about running away; if I needed to fight I would but I’d run first. I didn’t risk looking back instead I pushed myself forward, one of the wolves managed to bite my back leg but I kept running. I imagined that Jay was waiting at home for me with open arms that seemed to get my body to push forward, I could see my back yard from here, I took one last leap and crashed through the living room window.

I collapsed in a heap panting and shaking. Mike and Alex were on their feet staring down at me, Alex instantly shifted and started growling at me I couldn’t work the mind link so I had no choice but to shift right in front of them, I knew he wouldn’t recognise my wolf.

“It’s me Alex.” My lungs were burning but my leg was on fire, I looked down to see blood dripping from the wound. It looked broken but I knew it would heal soon enough,

“Oh my God, what happened Carmen?” Mike rushed forward and wrapped a blanket around my body; Alex dashed upstairs quickly and came back down with a pair of shorts on.

“Jake tried to attack me.” Alex lifted me up and carried me into my room, I submerged myself under the covers and my eyelids started drooping,

“I’m going to get a few wolves to see if they’re still on our land.” Mike got up and started walking towards the door, before he left I croaked out,

“Be careful.”

“What happened Carmen?” I forced my eyes open so I could look at my brother,

“I went for a run and he was at the boundary line and then he started chasing me. One of them managed to bite my leg and then I got here.” My explanation sounded really lame to my ears but I was tired and I wanted to sleep,

“How were you in your wolf form?” I almost screamed at him to get out but I knew he was just trying to be helpful,

“Jay taught me.” My voice cracked slightly at the end,

“You really should talk to someone about Jay, we’re all worried about you.” I didn’t really want to reply to that so I hugged him,

“He’s not coming back is he?” I squeezed my eyes closed tightly trying to stop the tears from coming,

“It’ll all work out.” How many times had people said that to me, I doubted it very much?

The school bell rang signalling the end of the school day, I slowly packed my books from my locker and limped to my bike; my leg had nearly finished healing. As I drove the familiar route to Chico’s diner I thought about my mum. She hadn’t made any contact with me, I had tried to call her, visit her, or get Alex to talk to her but she still wouldn’t talk. I missed her like crazy but there was nothing I could do.

Business was slow today so all I did was sit at one of the counters and do homework, Chico had gone on a well deserved holiday so it was up to me to run the diner in the afternoons after school, I didn’t mind though, anything to get away from the whispers of Alex and Mike.

The bell rang signalling a new customer I looked up and almost fainted, it was Joe as in Joe that Jay had left with. Now that he was here did that mean Jay was back too, maybe he’d have some answers for me.  A small bubble of hope erupted in my chest but I pushed it down,

“Where’s Jay?” I looked out the window maybe he was waiting outside in his car,

“He’s not here.” I almost broke down crying on the spot,

“Where is he?” hysteria was laced behind my words, I was desperate, really desperate now.

“I can’t tell you but he said that he’s coming home soon.” And with that Joe left, leaving me standing there dumbfounded. I locked up the diner in less than a minute and raced back home.

“Mike!” I pushed the door open and started looking through the rooms for Mike, blood pumped through my body in excitement. Jay really was coming home, everyone had been right all this time. I slammed into Mike’s hard chest and nearly ricocheted down the stairs but he caught me,

“What’s wrong?” he was scanning the space behind me; he probably thought I was in some sort of trouble.

“Jay’s coming home! You were right, he’s coming back!” Mike’s face lit up in a smile,

“How do you know?” my whole body was buzzing in excitement the depression I’d been feeling had almost dissipated,

“I was at the diner and then Joe came in and said that Jay was coming home soon.”

Jay’s POV

Sleep, eat, party, and repeat. That had been my life for the last month or so, I’d missed that type of lifestyle, I’d missed the days when I had no responsibilities part of me had also missed Carmen. Mike deserved the Alpha title not me, he was able to manage it better than me. I’d made my decision, I was going to leave the pack.
