After a few more minutes of awkward silence,

I glanced up at him from reading my book.

“What’s taking them so long?” I complained.

Geoffrey stared at me and sighed.

“Julie....”

“Hmmmm?”

“I’m not pushing you... I hope you think about what I said.  I know things were not smooth between us but I’m really serious about you.” He whispered.

“I don’t have to think about it.” I said quickly.

“What?”

“It’s okay...”

“What’s okay?”

“Your plans... I think it’s okay.” I said before glancing down my book again.

Silence.

“Really?!” he finally said aloud.

I smirked.  “Geez... I didn’t know you doubt yourself.  You always have your way anyway.”

He stared at me, speechless.

“What?!” I asked him.

“Nothing.... I wasn’t expecting you to agree so suddenly.”

“Would you rather I make you wait for months?”

“No....”

“I’m just saying you could court me... and by saying that, I guess I’m also saying us together is a possibility.”

“....................”

Aaron suddenly ran over and clumsily sat between us.

Finally.

I don’t think I can handle Geoffrey’s staring anymore.

Geoffrey groaned aloud.

“What? What did I do?” Aaron asked.

Geoffrey said nothing as he decided to just stare blankly at the soccer field.

More and more students came after Aaron.

We were all busy with our project when suddenly,

Matt dropped his things and glared at Geoffrey.

“Man, Geoffrey... Can you share the joke?” he asked.

Geoffrey glanced at him with an innocent expression.

“What joke?” he asked.

“You’ve been smiling to yourself nonstop.  I’m starting to think you’re going crazy.” He accused him.

“Shut up.”

“Spill it out!” Matt exclaimed.

Geoffrey rolled his eyes and ignored him.

We completed our projects two hours later.

While I was grabbing my things, Geoffrey approached me.

“Julie, I can walk you home.” He offered.

No...

I started envisioning him knocking at our front door, demanding that I talk to him when we finally break up.

That would be too complicated.

“Uhm... No, it’s fine... I’m walking home with Ivan and Aaron and besides, your house is in the opposite direction...  It would be too tiring for you if you walk me home.”  I explained.
