It's now March. My relationship isn't the best, but my mental health is great. I've leaned to back off on the relationship and put minimal effort in it, because Jacob is barely even trying.
To be specific, its March 18th, our five month anniversary. Jacob never has his phone, so he always uses Hayley's. I get a text from Jacob off of Hayley's phone during school.
Jacob: happy anniversary
Jacob: I'm sorry but I think we should take a break for a little while... I'm dating Hayley now 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻
I stop. Everything stops. My whole world stops. What do I do? How do I react to this?
My eyes start watering. I go to Jocelyn.
"Jocelyn. What do I do?"
I show her the texts. She looks at me. I look back at her.
"You know, this has gotta be a prank. It's a prank. Hayley is probably texting this."
I grab my phone and text back.
Me: I'm really confused rn. This has to be a prank
Jacob: it's not I'm sorry I'm dating Hayley bc she's bae 👉🏻👌🏻💦
Me: this is a prank because Jacob wouldn't text me shit like that.
Jacob: yes it was a prank
I call him to make sure. He says it's a prank.
The bell rings. I go to band, where I calm down. It's now lunch, and I check my phone.
I guess Hayley texted me.
Hayley: look Rosie, I'm so sorry Jacob didn't want to hurt your feelings in school and he wants to break up
Me: please stop trying to prank me
Hayley: I'm so sorry Rosie but it's not, and also I think he's dating another girl named Julia
It's now later that day. Tonight is my band concert. Jacob gets to his dad's house and we start texting. He says how it was just a prank and stuff so I calm down. I'm still really mad though.
He said that he wanted to test a theory. Basically, I'm now best friends with one of his good friends, Ryan. He is one of the most reliable people I know, and we talk a lot, but we are only friends, but nobody seems to get that through their head.
Jacobs theory I guess was to see if I would dump him for Ryan. First of all, we are only friends, and that's how we want to stay, and second of all, it's so shallow to prank a significant other like that. You can't just say you're breaking up with them when you aren't!
I'm mad now. I'm really mad. It's not okay for someone to do that and cheat on me if that's true too. I'm about to dump Jacob. He's gone to far.
