We just graduated. I remember the plans we made  that once we graduated, we'd run over to McDonald's and buy some burgers in our mortarboards. We never would have guessed that it wouldn't happen.

You were the class's valedictorian. You looked so in control of yourself. Like you knew how to handle perfectly the situation.

There was a sparkle in your eye while you talked, something I had never seen before. You looked independent and fierce and strong. You weren't the same girl who sent me those texts anymore. You aren't and you made sure to make that clear for me.

He was there with you the whole time. He hugged you and he kissed you in the forehead. You looked at me and you threw me a small smile, something that said 'good luck'.

I smiled back. But the only thing I wanted to do was to go up to you, grab you by the waist and kiss you. But I couldn't. And so you left. And I let you go again.
