You've nae told me your name yet, boy,
and I think ye'd better show it.
If you'll be changing mine to yours,
I fancy I'd like to know it.
Ye've no been nice, not once but twice
ye criticized me looks.
Mither said that's no polite,
ye said I couldn't cook.
Me hair's of red it may be true
'tis nae my verra best color.
I'll change it back to blonde for you,
though it cost five Yankee dollars!
But I'll no wash me face of blue,
it stays just like the sky.
And lad, cannae you tell me true,
does it nae bring out me eyes?
I'll cook your neeps and tatties my sweet and bonny lad,
and I'm sure you'll find my cookin the best you ever had.
But I'll not make your haggis boy, I'm sure you understand.
I love the Scottish food but there's some I cannae stand.
Can we take a walk now, and have a quick look-see?
We can have a talk then, and I can see your tree.
I'd like to know this hoose of yours, if you think I could;
it might be one I adore - I'm a verra good judge of wood.
(To be continued).
