AN: the chapter i've been waiting to write :) feedback and votes much appreciated anyway on to the story
I growled at the wooden door for a while until what felt like ages it creaked open revealing my brunette best friend looking less then pleased “ I never thought you would be Xander’s arm candy” a small smile graced her lips “ But I'm so glad you did” she looked genuinely happy her eyes shimmered
Rising I raid Xander’s closet and grab for his grey pull over sweater before walking into the bathroom slinging my hair into my infamous ponytail
“I always wondered why you ran so quickly it’s like it fit you amazingly second nature I used to want t be like you smart and beautiful I never knew what I was asking for” she looked wistful “ What I was asking to become..”
“I didn’t become anything” I all but snapped fed up with the humans Hollywood view of my kind we weren’t turned nor would silver claim my life as easily
“Yeah, you were born” she looked at me but I don’t shrink from her accusation “You never wanted me to know, you tried so hard to keep me naïve I don’t know whether to be betrayed or flattered you cared so much so which was it Abigail?”
“I was keeping you safe always that was my top priority nothing else”
“Not even the fact your Pack would have you killed if I knew? That couldn’t possibly be a part of it could it?”
“Of course that was a portion”
“So I didn’t have a right to choose if I wanted to be friends with a monster or not!? You get to decide for me?”
Monster the words struck me somewhere in my core but I hid my anguish well “Is that what you believe I'm a monster?”
“ Friends don’t keep secrets”
“Answer me” I hadn’t realized I balled my fist “Is that what you see when you look at me, a monster?! That I could actually hurt you”
“Am I safe? this close to you or should I back up wolf girl?”
My wolf snarled at her words and I push past her “Guess not” I whisper running out of the house letting my wolf take the rein she pushed past our boundaries and I heard my mate’s voice calling to me softly
‘Abigail’
*Xander*
I burst in my room to find Abi’s friend standing there I growl at her “Where is she?”
“ I don’t know” she whispered staring blankly at the floor tears streaming from her eyes “ I didn’t mean to … I just wanted answers”
monster that one word swam around my mate’s head like a poison I didn’t understand “ Why did she leave?”
“I called her a monster” she whispered
stupid human “ I’ll show you a monster if something happens to my Queen” I threaten “ C’mon you’re coming with me”
She sniffs pathetically but follows behind me dutifully
“Dylan” she smiled somewhat as her mate came in front of me , he smiled back but I snarl reclaiming his attention
“ Yes Alpha Xander” his brown eyes focused solely on me now
“Inform my Beta I’ll return, the reason why I called you, this human is your mate I am correct?’
He nods
“I'm borrowing her to locate my mate your Luna, I’m not necessarily asking permission I just don’t need your wolf jumping to conclusions getting you killed needlessly”
“Ok Alpha” he seemed almost hesitant but I cared not about what he liked or the human beside me at the moment the only person that mattered in this instance was my precious wife
“Let’s go” I commanded her and she stole a glance at Dylan who nodded at once
“Alpha Xander is it possible if I was allowed to go?”
“No” I said outright “ I will keep your mate safe it’ll only slow me down having you lovebirds so close she’ll return in one piece you have my Alpha word”
“I believe you Alpha”
“Now come” she scampered into the darkness clumsily behind me I grasp her wrist leading her to the clearing’s edge “You love Abigail huh?”
“I’d die for that ‘monster’”
I shift and she backed away I bare my canines my eyes holding a promise if she didn’t suck it up and fix her mistake there would be hell to pay , I wasn’t Abigail I had no mercy for humans
She shakily climbed onto my back grasping the fur tightly as I raced catching my mates scent everywhere “I didn’t mean it you know I don’t care what Abbi is as long as she’s ok I was just freaked out”
as my speed increased she latched onto the brush of my neck tighter “ So Abi’s a wolf now? Which means she’s running like you are?”
I nod “What’s she running from?”
The pain I remembered Abigail speaking of this girl like she was pure perfection I also recalled her thoughts whenever the human was around she trusted the human with all her darkness I doubt nothing would hurt as much as being rejected by the one person you trust
Except maybe by the only person you loved “ She’s running from me, from what I said to her , why doesn’t she know me better she should have known I didn’t mean it”
why didn’t you know her better why didn’t you believe she would never let harm come to you why didn’t you understand that every monster has a soul like every human has a heart I pondered mostly to myself knowing in this form I wouldn’t get the answer I was looking for I didn’t care how long this took I would find my love ….
