Ch29- Lies

If one cannot invent a really convincing lie, it is often better to stick to the truth~Angela Thirkel

I smiled adoringly at Amorfia as she screamed while we rocketed up the ride, her beautiful golden air splayed about in the wind and her eyes twinkled with excitement.

“This is so much fun!” she shouted above the hollering wind, I had a hard time hearing her so I had to lean in a bit so I could respond.

“Heck yeah, when we are done we can go again” she nodded enthusiastically, while screaming and throwing her hands up in the air, I soon joined her yelling, screaming at the top of my voice.  The ride stopped and we went on again and again, by the time we were done I wanted to throw up. We walked around a bit, smiling and just enjoying each other’s company. I stared at everything, the multiple stands and the smell of popcorn, along with the screams of delighted children and the laughing of adults as they joked around with each other, the kingdom was so happy...maybe it even had to do with Luna. I smiled down at Amorfia, when a thought suddenly struck me.

“Hey Amorfia, you know I have never met your parents?” I said to her raising my eyebrows and pulling her to a stop, her mouth was wide and her eyes slightly bigger than they were before. I watched as she turned around and looked at me, plastering a smile on her face. I pulled her towards a bench and sat her down, urging her to talk.

“So, why haven’t I seen them or met them?” I asked, playing with her wrists, when in actual fact I was feeling her pulse to see if she was lying or not, I smiled innocently at her. I needed to know the truth about my girlfriend; she was acting very strange lately.

“Well you see I'm a bit nervous” she whispered. Lie

I stared at her as I watched her bend her head down and blush profusely, looking up at me between her long eyelashes, I swear that almost got me to banish any accusations I had against her, she was just so sweet. But I couldn’t, I needed answers.

“Nonsense you are never nervous” I replied.

“I’m shy” she whispered. Lie. Why is she lying to me? Doesn’t she trust me?

“Amorfia” I warned her lowly, letting some of my royal blood that allowed me to be a bit more superior to others seep into my voice, she popped her head up and glared at me for a few seconds, but it was gone so quick that I don’t know if she even did glare.

“I'm scared ok? Here you are a royal and I'm nothing but the daughter of a duke, that is not as important as the prince of the kingdom, I just feel...I feel ashamed ok?” she said to me, I almost believed it almost, it looked as if she was telling the truth her blue eyes shining unperturbed innocence, her smile trying to throw me off guard. If it weren’t for the hand I had on her wrist, keeping track of her heartbeat I would’ve missed the lie but I caught the unmistakeable skip in the rhythm of her heartbeat when she told me. My heart wrenched and twisted painfully, threatening to burst out my chest and shatter to the floor in a million tiny pieces.

My own girlfriend was lying to me and I think it is much more than that...
