'Lydia is abusing my wardrobe as we speak.'

I couldn't help but laugh at Allison's text. She had told me that Lydia was coming over before their group date to help pick out an outfit, and I had warned her that this would happen. Or course, they had asked me to come over too, but I didn't want to feel like a third wheel. Besides, I was sure that Lydia held a strong enough opinion for the both of us.

'Stay strong, and be thankful that clothes are inanimate objects.'  I replied, and shoved my phone into my back pocket. It was Friday night, and I was free from werewolf drama for a few hours while Scott was with Allison. As much as I loved the two of them, I couldn't help but feel relieved that I didn't have to deal with all of that for one night.

I walked downstairs to find the rest of my housemates. I found my mom in the kitchen making spaghetti, and Shea and Tyler playing video games in the family room.

"ANOTHER WIN!" Shea screamed, dropping his voice like 3 octaves.

"Shea shut up!" Tyler shouted back, smacking my brother in the chest. "You never play fair." I just shook my head and walked back into the kitchen.

"Need any help?" I asked my mom.

She laughed. "It's just some basic pasta and sauce, I can handle it." she said. "Thank you though."

I pursed my lips and thought for a second. "Can I make some brownies then?" I asked. "From scratch. I'll use Aunt Kat's recipe." I added quietly.

I saw her pause in stirring the pasta. "Yeah that would be nice." she said. "The recipe and the ingredients are in the pantry."

I grabbed the recipe and ingredients and got to baking. It always calmed me down, which was nice because the more I baked, the more I got to eat.

While the brownies were baking, we all sat down for dinner. With all of us sitting around the table, we almost looked like a normal family, living in a normal town. Looks can be deceiving.

After a minute or two of passing around food, Tyler cleared his throat.

"So, I was wondering if I could have a friend over this weekend?" He asked timidly.

My mom looked at him, surprised. "Of course." she replied quickly. "What's his name?" she asked.

Tyler squirmed in his chair, uncomfortable. "Her name," he said, glancing at my mother. "is Carly."

A grin came over my mom's face. "Carly, huh?" she asked. "And how long have we known this 'Carly'?"

I just stared at my cousin completely shocked. It took some serious balls to tell my mom about his girlfriend. I figured he would just sneak her over here or something. The fact that he was doing all of this meant that he must really like her, even more than I had originally thought.

"Just since the end of summer." he said honestly. "She's been, uh, there for me for a while. And she really wants to meet you guys." he said sheepishly.

My mother couldn't argue with someone that important. If they had been there for Tyler, then we would all have to accept them. Besides, she wasn't really in any position to deny Tyler relationships considering the two that he had lost.

"Well, we would love to meet her." she told him with a smile. "Just figure out when she can come over, and I'll order pizza or something." she said. I saw Tyler visibly relax and breathe a sigh of relief. Shea smirked at him before clapping him on the shoulder.

"Well done, my man." Shea said with a proud smile. "I've taught you well."

My mother glared at him. "Shea Clery, I hope to God that you haven't 'taught' him anything, are we clear?" she said.
