Whenever you want to marry someone, go have lunch with his ex.

-Shelley Winters

Coco Spencer's POV

The last thing I expected when I followed Rafe here was to feel insecurities which I smugly believed in the past that I have such a thing in me. But seeing his ex-loved and ex-fiancée forced me to reevaluate myself.

Now hours later after the most awkward lunch I ever experienced in my life, I walked into the silent palace of the Fiorenza. Rafe was so busy with his work carefully building again their family business and since we haven't yet resolved our issue I don't want to spend time with him.

I looked around at my surrounding. This place didn't look so welcoming with its baroque architecture this place doesn't give you the aura of home but more of a museum sort. Everything about this place speaks coldness. I wonder what kind of upbringing the Fiorenza twins have.

I saw a door half-opened curious about what's inside that room. I slowly peeked from the door and saw the subject of my jealously sitting on the settee reading a book. She must sense that someone was looking at her when she looked at the door and smile.

"Sorry to disturb you from your reading," I said with a slight force smile.

"You are not disturbing me." She replied with that genuine smile still fixed on her beautiful face. "I want some company since everyone is so busy right now."

I was about to decline her offer and stay away from her as much as possible but I felt a little guilty that I was avoiding her like plague when she never did anything wrong to me. I took a deep breath and decided to join her.

Her light green eyes lit delightfully, once I sat on the sofa across to her. "Sorry if you need to suffer from my company for a while. I am really bored at the moment. No one wants the company of an overly pregnant like me."

I smiled slightly in her direction. "I hope you don't mind me asking but where is your husband?"

"Tea?" She asked conversationally, but before I could refuse she's already pouring the cup. "Nikos went to Rome just after lunch. He's avoiding my father's company religiously. He will be back tonight before dinner, I guess. He rather spends his afternoon with his best friends than suffer from Cesare Fiorenza's scrutiny."

"Are you okay with that?" I asked her nonchalantly. I couldn't help but take a sip from the tea she offered the aroma coming from the cup was hard to resist. "I mean, is it okay with you for him to spend his afternoon with his friends than with you?"

"Of course," She answered brightly, rubbing her swollen belly. "If I have my way I want to come with him and chat with his friends' wives the whole afternoon but there are so many restrictions for a pregnant woman."

"You must be very close with the wives of his friends," I commented, sipping my tea.

Rafe's ex-loved face filled with happiness. "Yes, they are delightful women. I will introduce you to them tomorrow night at Patri's birthday party they are coming with their husbands."

I don't think I want to get acquainted with them. I mean, they already have this strong bond with them. I think I would be only be labeled as an outcast with their clique.

"Enough of that topic," She said determinedly. "I want to know more about you. Rafe is so secretive lately. I will not lie to you. When you walk into the dining room during our lunch we were totally shocked about your announcement."

I couldn't help but feel my cheeks burn with embarrassment. I knew the way I announced my presence was so outlandishly compared to their formal manner. "Sorry, about that," I muttered under my breath. "I am not that well-mannered sometimes."
