Dancing

You bow to me like the gentleman you are
Then you take me by the hand, leading me out to dance.
Our hands between us, tenderly touching each other.
And our gaze meets, never looking away.
As we turn slowly, recreating a medieval dance.

We move together as one, emotions melting and blending together.
Your eyes shine like the galaxy and my smile is shy
As I try to hide the blush upon my cheeks.

We've always been dancing, you and me.
Since I was 11 and you were 12, as we danced with innocence and love.
And again when I was 15 and you were 16,
But that time our dance was bittersweet.
Now here we are again tonight,
Dancing like all those other times before.

Before us lies romance forgotten
But brought to life for me again by our dance.
Before us awaits a hopeful future.
Happiness for a lifetime.
