The Last Chapter

(Fast Forward Into the Future)

It was the night of the big dance and me and Julie were getting ready. She helped with my makeup and hair and I helped her zip up her dress. I actually felt pretty good looking at myself in the mirror. After months of working out and eating right it really paid off. Even though I'll never be as skinny as Julie i'm okay with it because I know that I'm healthy and I know that thats what my mom would would have wanted. I'm wearing a black dress that stops just at the floor and singes at the waist with a sweetheart neckline. I was wearing my "L" necklace that Ashton gave me for my 15th birthday that I never take off along my charm bracelet. For my makeup it was a simple black eyeliner with red matte lipstick. My hair was up to my mid back now so Julie thought it would look pretty with it curled and took two strands of hair from both sides of my face and clipped them in the back. I was wearing black heels for my shoes. Julie was wearing a gorgeous off the shoulder wine red dress that was was floor length with beige heels. Her blonde hair was in a milk braid headband with some curled hair strands to frame her face. Her makeup was a neutral eyeshadow with a glossy nude lipstick.

"Are you girls ready? The boys are here have been waiting a while now?" Julie's mom knocks on the door followed with her peaking through the crack. "We'll be right down!" Julie walks down the stairs first while I behind her trying not to fall. It was like a scene straight out of those romance movies where the girl walks down the stairs slowly as the guy stares in awe from the bottom of the stairs but this time it wasn't in a movie, it was happening in my life. Luke's mouth haven't shut closed and his eyes haven't left mine since I walked out of Julie's room. I guess Julie did a good job on me. Ever since that day I fought with Ashton we both haven't really made in effort to makeup with on another. I know it sounds childish but sometimes people grow apart and I guess we were it. I was kind of upset about it at first because it felt like that time I grew apart from Luke but after a while I started talking to Luke again and my mind wandered off from Ashton onto Luke. A few weeks later he asked me if I would go the dance with him. With no hesitation I said yes. Julie thought it was perfect because she just started dating this guy from her english class. "Wow. You look amazing." Luke handed me a red rose and grabbed my hands and kissed my knuckles. Never have I thought would I think I would be talking to him again. From all of those daydreams I thought this was one. "Thanks. You don't look too bad yourself." I tried really hard not to show that I was blushing.

"Pictures!" Julie's mom rearranged us into those prom like poses. Our dates wrap their arms around our waist as we pose as uncomfortably as we can. I'm still not used to this whole picture thing because I never really look at myself lot before this. I'm still not used to looking in the mirror as well. I was surprised that Skinny was silent. In situations like this she usually would take advantage of how uncomfortable I was feeling. Maybe she's gone for good. I really hope so. "Doesn't she look amazing?" Julie asks her date, Shane and Luke. "Yeah she does. I remember last year you were in my math class and you were huge." Shane looks at me up and down like i'm an animal thats never been seen before. "Thanks, I think." I give Luke a look and we both were thinking the same thing, we both burst into laughter. Julie and Shane look at us in total confusion.

We walk through the school doors and made our way to the gym. They did a good job on decorating because it looked amazing. The theme was a winter wonderland and there was white Christmas lights, snowflakes and snow covered trees. I walk in with my arm linked with Luke's. I could feel stares and whispers around me. "Don't worry about it." Luke whispers in my ear, easing my thoughts. "There's Kaitlyn." Julie drags Shane in Kaitlyn's direction leaving me alone with Luke. "Do you want to sit down? Theres a seat next to Calum over there." He does this really cute thing whenever he's nervous or in a awkward situation where he plays with his lip ring and scratches the back of his head. "Sure." I couldn't help but smile and admire him. I was looking around the room and I couldn't help but wonder where Izzy was, she would never miss a school dance. Julie and Shane finally joined me, Luke and Calum at the table. We all talked for a while, laughing a having a good time when I noticed Izzy walking through the gym doors. "Hey there's Izzy." Julie says. "But who is she with?" Calum asks. "She's with Ashton." I say. I could feel my heart dropping to the floor. Out of all the people she could have gone to the dance with it had to be my best friend, or at least he used to be. I don't know why it bothered me so much it's not like he signed an agreement for me to be the only girl he talks to. A photographer takes there picture together. They looked perfect together. Her height was up to his shoulders and she was wearing a skin tight dress that hugged her curves. He was wearing a black suit with a bow tie. He had his arm wrapped around her waist with her looking up at him and him smiling showing the dimples on the side of his cheeks. I've forgotten how adorable his smile was. Have I been so busy with Luke and Julie that I didn't notice what was going on between them?
