Chapter Thirty

Eleanor's POV

"Temporarily," Parker blurted before I could say anything.

I stared him down trying hard to not show any emotions on my face. Even though inside I was burning with fury. I enjoyed making him uncomfortable. He fidgeted around, his eyes darting from me to anywhere else.

He gently touched my elbow with his hand. "Eleanor? Say something. You're scaring me."

I snatched my arm from him, finally giving him the reaction he was looking for. "Living with us? Parker. Are you mad?" I flung at his face taking a step backward. "You know how I feel about that... that witch! And I'm sure she feels the same way about me. Now you're telling me... That she's fucking coming over to have a slumber party?" Thank goodness Parker put the boys to bed. He was right on that small thing.

"Only for a short time!" He tried reasoning with me.

I shook my head. "Temporary or not, this does not sit well with me." I brushed past him in a hurry to get to our bedroom. "This is ridiculous!" I shouted knowing full well he's behind. "You didn't even ask for my opinion?"

"The way you're acting is ridiculous!" Parker retorted slamming the door shut to our bedrooms.

I turned around to face him and found him tense with anger of his own. How dare he be the one angry? was suppose to be the only one who had the right. "You have the audacity to yell at me like that?"

"It was the only way to get your attention," said Parker in a much softer tone. Although not as gentle the way he usually talked to me. "Now can we please talk about this in a more civilized way?"

"There's nothing to discuss." I crossed my arms in front of my chest standing my ground. "I will not let that Heidi into this house. You go tell her she needs to stay somewhere else."

"This is my house, and I will let guests in whoever I want."

I was taken aback, caught off guard by his reply. I was expecting for him to reason with me, to comfort me telling me he didn't want Heidi to stay, but he has no choice. I mustered up all of the dignity I had left and straightened my head up higher. "You're right. This is your house, and I'm just somebody living with you."

He started to speak but I continued before he could say anything. "How could I possibly have any say in who stays or not? I didn't pay for this myself. I didn't have the money. I'm a mere guest in this place so it seems." My lips trembled, but I willed myself not to cry. "So thanks Parker. Thanks for clearing that up."

He sighed heavily and took a step closer to me. "I didn't mean it in that way. It's just that... I already said yes to her."

"Do we not make decisions together anymore?" I asked in a small voice looking off to the side. "Do I have not a voice?"

"Of course you do. I would never do anything important without getting your opinion. It was a last minute thing, and you were busy with the wedding rehearsal. I tried calling you a few times, but you didn't pick up." Now I know what those missed calls from Parker were for.

I made a gesture with my hand laughing humorlessly in his face. "So, Heidi coming to stay with us isn't important? I don't know about you, but this seems fucking important to me seeing as we can't stand each other!"

"If it bothers you that much, I'll tell her to go elsewhere," Parker finally said. The one thing I wanted to hear in the beginning of this conversation.
