2 days later (moving to NYC)
Taylor's pov
"The flights about two hours so just try sleep you'll be fine" I tell Ada as we both buckle into our seats
Soon the plane takes off and we are up in the air.
"Who are we staying with in New York?" Ada asks looking up at me.
"One of my friends Karlie is letting us stay with her until we get our own place" I say lifting up the arm rest and wrapping my arm round her
"Have I met her before?" She whispers as sleep catches up to her
"You were very little so you probably don't remember" I tell her as I run my fingers through her hair
She nods and soon falls asleep cuddled up to me. Eventually I follow her and fall asleep.

"Ada wake up baby girl we're landing" I whisper into her ear whilst rubbing her arm up and down
"I'm up" she groans into my side
I kiss her head as the plane wheels screech along the Tarmac.
"Tay" Ada calls once were in the car on the way to karlies
"Mhmm" I say looking at her
"I'm nervous" she says looking down at her lap
"About going to karlies house" I ask as I turn to face her and tuck my legs underneath.
"Yea" she mumbles
"You shouldn't be babes she'll love you I promise" I tell her
She nods and soon enough we are pulling up at karlies house.
"You ready?" I ask
She nods slowly as we get out of the car and walk into karlies apartment block.
"Okay go ahead and press 7" I tell Ada as we step into the elevator
The elevator soon dings as we reach karlies floor.
"Okay so she texted me saying she was apartment
718, but I don't know if it's that way or that way" I say pointing in both directions.
"I think it's that way" Ada says barely above a whisper "cause the numbers get higher that way"
"That way it is then" I state as we start walking down the long red carpeted hallway.
"Here it is 718" I say as I knock lightly on the door.
Ada quickly grabs hold of my hand once I lower is and shys away behind my leg a little.
"She's really nice I promise" I tell her
I soon her heels click against a wooden floor as karlies face appears in the door way.
"Oh my gosh Karlie it's been way to long" I say giving her a big hug as I let go of Ada's hand
"I know Tay more than it should be" she tells me hugging me back
I pull away and look back at Ada who is now standing behind fiddling with her hands nervously.
"Ada this is Karlie, karlie you remember Ada right?" I ask as I place my hand on Ada's back
"Of course I remember you, you were so little last time I saw you I doubt you will remember me" Karlie tells her "anyway why don't you both come in then and I can show you around the house"
I walk in with our bags and Ada following behind me slowly.
"Okay so I only have one guest room so I was thinking that could be Ada's and then Taylor can share with me just like old times" she says smiling as we walk up the stairs to what I am assuming will be Ada's room.
"Okay so this room here will be Ada's, I know it's really plain but we can decorate however you like sweetie" she says to Ada who responds with a small smile.
After house tour
"So yea that's basically it, I'm gonna start with lunch is pasta okay?" Karlie asks
Ada nods slowly
"Yea but let me help you" I offer
"Okay I'll see you downstairs in a bit then" she says as she turns on her heel to walk down stairs.
"Okay so you wanna unpack and then come down?" I ask Ada
"Yea sure" she replies
"Okay I'll see you down in a bit" I say giving her a hug and kissing her head and going down to help Karlie
"Guess who" I say covering karlies eyes
"Haha taylor very funny, who else would it be" she says taking my hands away from her eyes and turning round to see me.
"How longs it really been Tay" she says as she leans against the counter whilst the pasta boils.
"I don't know about a year maybe" I shrug
"Way to long" she laughs
"Definitely" I agree
"I missed this Tay" she speaks up
"Yea me too Karl's" I smile
"So how's Ada tell me a bit about her, she seemed really shy today" Karlie notices
"Yeah she gets shy when she firsts meets people but she'll warm up to you, and she's just an average 10 year old, knows how to play guitar and piano but won't tell anyone she can play and when asked she says she's not that good which is a lie" I smile thinking at the time I caught her playing for the first time "speaking of her I better go call her for lunch" I say as I begin to walk out of the kitchen and up to Ada's room
But the door is locked,
"Hey Ada it's Tay lunch is ready" I say from the outside
"Go away" I hear her mumble
"Ada baby girl open up" I say noticing something is wrong
I get no response at this Karlie comes up the stairs wondering what's wrong.
"She won't open the door karls I don't know what wrong" I sigh.
"Maybe just give her time this is a big change for her Tay" she says wrapping her arms around me and pulling me into her chest, God I love karlies hugs and her scent and what taylor what are you saying she's your best friend.
"Let me see if I can talk to her okay why don't you start dishing out lunch" she says into my hair to which I nod against her chest and go downstairs.
"Hey Ada it's me Karlie, Taylor's gone downstairs why don't you open up sweetie" I say to the door.
"You promise it's just you" I hear
"I promise" I respond
Soon I hear the faint klick of the lock being turned.
I gently open the door to see Ada sitting on her bed knees pulled up to her chest and a tear stained face.
