I decided to stay home today because I didn’t want to miss my last goodbye to Matt. Matt was loading boxes in his car and my mom and I are just watching him as he loads his last box. He closes his car’s trunk and tears were coming down his face as he walks over to us. He gives my mom a long hug and whispers, “I’ll be back just as you know it.” He gave her a kiss and looks up at me. I ran to him and hugged him tight. I cried and cried as I’m holding him. I didn’t want to let him go. He kisses my head and whispers, “I will call you everyday to make sure you are okay and to know if anything bad happen to you. I am here for you always.” He wiped my tears away and gives me a smile. I told him, “Thanks Matt and I promise I will call you when anything happens.” Matt started to walk to his car and he turns around to wave his last goodbyes. My mom and I waved back at him and he got in his car. Matt turned on his car engine and drove away. I was about to run after him, but my mom had her hands tight on my shoulders. When Matt was completely out of site, my mom and I started to walk back inside the house. I checked my watch and it strikes 10:00am. I’ve only missed two periods. My mom looks at me and asks, “Do you want to go to school or do you want to stay?” This is the first time she’s letting me skip school after all the years. I wasn’t sure if I should stay or go. I had two reasons that I was fighting in my brain. One, if I skip school, I have a feeling that David might stop by my house and I don’t want my mom to know about David just yet and two, if I did go to school, I’ll still see David, but I will also see Amanda holding on to him tight. What should I do? I took a deep breath and I remember that if anything happens to me, I just need to call Matt. I look at my mom and told her, “I’ll go to school, I need to go anyways because then my homework would be considered late, and I’ve been doing really good in school.” My mom looked at me with confusion for she thought I would stay home. “Okay, then get ready. We’ll leave in ten minutes.” I started to run up the stairs and started to change. As I’m heading to school, I started to have second thoughts. I’m not ready to see David. I’m not ready to see David with Amanda. Now I wished I should of stayed at home. My mom makes a complete stop. “Do you want me to pick you up or are you going to walk home?” she asked. “I’ll walk home mom, but thanks.” I gave her a smile and she said, “Okay, I’ll see you at home.” My mom drove away. As I’m walking down the halls, the bell rings for the third period had finished. I started to head to my locker, and once I grabbed everything I needed, Amanda was walking down the halls with her clan and with David holding her hands. I tried to hurry myself, but it was too late. David saw me and he was going to talk to me, but Amanda pulled him away. Amanda may look like a twig, but she was strong. I closed my locker and started walking to a different direction as Amanda was coming towards me. Amanda’s clan started to surround me. “Look what the cat dragged in ladies.” Amanda said. “What do you want Amanda?” I asked annoyed without making eye contact with David. “Oh nothing. I just wanted you to meet my new boyfriend. Isn’t he gorgeous?” Amanda said boastfully as she touches David’s hair and feels his muscles. “I guess and I care why?” I said as I’m trying to escape; yet the clan wouldn’t let me pass. Amanda said, “Oh of course you care Julie. I mean weren’t you friends with him?” “Amanda just stop!” David said with anger. “No! I want to know her answer.” Amanda yelled. David looks at me as if he saying just ignore her, you know her ways, just run, but I didn’t listen to him. “Julie? I’m waiting.” Amanda said. I told her as I hold in my tears inside for saying this. “I don’t have any friends.” I looked down so I wouldn’t see David’s face when he realizes that I was never his friend. Deep down I know that having David around was the best I ever had; yet I didn’t want him to get hurt. If I did told Amanda that I was friends with him, and then she could of done something hurtful to David. So I had to tell her I wasn’t so he wouldn’t be the one who gets hurt. Amanda smiles, as she knew that was the answer she was waiting for. She looks at her clan to give some signal and her clan dumps their smoothies all over me. David was about to go and help me, but Amanda gain control and started kissing him as Amanda forcefully makes him walk away. I went straight to the restroom to wash my hair and as I entered, I saw a girl who had her braces stuck to her sweater with super glue. I looked at her and asked, “Do you need some help?” and she said, “No it’s okay. I deal with this everyday.” The girl takes out a pair of scissors and guts the glue off her sweater. She was able to free herself, yet she had a big hole on her sweater. The girl said, “Here let me help you.” She helps me rinse my hair in the sink. She asked me with concern, “So what happen to you?” I told her, “I’ve been getting bullied by Amanda Princeton my whole life, and I just can’t seem to not be the victim.” The girl said, “Oh, I feel your pain. She has been bullying me also. She just doesn’t understand that yeah she’s the popular one, but that doesn’t mean you have to treat everyone like bugs.” This is the first time I’ve met someone else who is also being bullied by Amanda. I thought I was the only one. I told her, “I know right.” The girl looks at me and notices that she was also thinking the same thought I was. My hair was finally clean and I’m glad that I brought an extra shirt this time. I told her, “Well, um, thanks for helping me clean up.” The girl said, “No problem.” I thought to myself, maybe I could be friends with her. The girl was about to leave the restroom. “Hey, wait.” I told her and she turned around. “My name is Julie.” she said, “My name is Bridgit.” as she smiles at me. I smiled back at her and asked her, “Want to talk more during lunch?” and Bridgit said, “Yeah, of course, once you get your lunch, meet me at the outside tables.” I told her, “Okay, I’ll see you there.” “See you later.” Bridgit said as she walks out the restroom. I told myself, “I can’t believe I’ve found someone else in common with.” During lunch, I got my lunch and started to head for the outside lunch tables, yet David came up to me. “Julie, I’m so sorry for what happened today. I wanted to stop her so bad.” I cut off, “Then why didn’t you?” I started to walk faster, but he got in front of me again. “Julie, please forgive me and plus why didn’t you tell Amanda that we were friends?” I looked down and noticed that my hands were shaking as I’m carrying my lunch tray. “Because David we weren’t don’t you get it! I’m a loner! I never had any friends.” I yelled at him as tears started to come down my face. “So you’re saying that you were pretending to be my friend? Because I thought on what we had was real. I felt that we had something that others didn’t.” David said as he looks at me with sadness. “I’m sorry.” I started to walk faster again, but this time he didn’t follow me. I started to calm myself down as I spotted Bridgit eating her lunch alone. I took a deep breath and started walking towards her. “Is this seat taken?” I asked with a smile as Bridgit looked up at me and smiled. “I was hoping you would show up.” I smiled and sat down next her. We started talking about how Bridgit wants to be a writer one day and how she’s an only child. Bridgit was really cool to hangout with. I can’t believe that I had her in some of my classes and I never talked to her. She started explaining to me that for her new story she’s working on is based on a true event that happen to her. I said, “Maybe, you can write about how we meet after not realizing we had the same classes together.” She laughs and I laughed and she said, “Not a bad idea, but I want my story to be more realistic. Like feeling the emotions as you feel like your part of a movie.” She started to have deep thought about it for she was serious about her story. The bell rings and we both got up to throw away our trash. Bridgit said, “I’m glad I met you Julie, you are really cool to talk too. We should hangout more afterschool. I’ll give you my number if that’s okay?” I smiled big and told her, “Yeah! Of course! Here is mine too.” We both exchanged phone numbers as we walked down the halls. “I’ll text you tonight, to make sure you didn’t gave me a fake number.” I laughed and told her, “Alright, I’ll text you later.” The rest of my day was pretty good. I called Matt once I got home and told him everything. For example, the whole Amanda and smoothie incident, the whole drama with David and how I met Bridgit in the girls’ restroom. Matt was so proud of me but also he was upset with the whole Amanda situation, but I told him that no one can bring me down. Later on that same day, I got a text from Bridgit and we started texting each other nonstop. As I look at the alarm clock, it strikes 3:00am and I texted her, “Wow! This is the longest text conversation I had! Look at the time! I should really get my beauty sleep now.” I laughed as I send her that text. She texted me back saying, “OMG! You’re right! I totally forgot about sleep! I’ll see you soon. Night Julie.” I texted her, “Night Bridgit.” This had to be the best night I ever had.
