Chapter 12: One More Original

LUCINDA'S POV

I sat against the wall of the cell Elijah was in just waiting for him to wake up.

I had been waiting for about an hour, when I heard a loud gasp.

I looked over to see Elijah gasping for breath and arching his back.

I ran over to him and kneeled beside him. He looked at me with a surprised look on his face.

"Elijah." I whispered.

"Jasmina." He replied.

He eyes glazed over as if he was remembering something.

"Elijah. Elijah, it's me. It's Lucinda." I told him.

"Please." He said.

I put my finger up to my mouth and shushed him.

Once again his eyes glazed over.

He took one last breath and went limp.

I didn't know what was going on or what I should do. So I went to feel for his pulse on his neck.

Just as I was about to reach his neck, he rolled over on his side towards me and I moved back slightly to give him some room, because I didn't know what the hell he was doing.

He stood up straight and gasping for air.

"I can't-I can't breathe." He gasped.

He fell back onto his knees and turned his head to face me.

"What's happening to me?" He asked

"I--" I started, but before I could finish, he vampire sped to the door. The weird thing about it was that it was like he couldn't get out of the cell. Just like vampires who can't get into a house.

He started gasping again. I ran to him and lifted him up.

"I can't-- I can't--" He continued to gasp. "I can't be in this house."

Then it hit me.

"You're not invited in." I told him.

"Get me out of here." He said.

He sped out of the cell door then out of the house.

I sped to the front door to see him crouched down on the porch.

He got up and came as close as he could to the door.

"What happened?" He asked.

"Shh." I said and put my hand to my lips. I pointed upstairs and then to my ears. He understood.

"I'll tell you, but not here." I whispered.

"Can I trust you?" He asked me, looking at the dagger.

"Why wouldn't you be able to? I wasn't the one who stabbed you in the back with the dagger that was Elena." I told him.

He stood there unmoving.

I looked up and back at him. I sighed and turned over the dagger and handed it to him.

He immediately grabbed it from me.

I walked him out to my mother's car and told him to get in.

There was a blood bag in the middle compartment that my mother always kept hidden, so I took it out and gave it to him.

He told me to drive the Lockwood mansion, so that's what I did.

We drove from the Salvatore Boarding House all the way there in silence.
