"So you're starting school this Monday, excited?" my dad asked

"Defitnitely not."

My dad came by himself for my last weekend before school.

"Well I am. It'll keep you out of trouble."

"What trouble have I been getting into?"

"Piercings."

"Its not like I can't get anymore."

"You'll have homework, studying, and no extra time to plan your antics."

"If you think so." I shrugged

"You know your brother is going to be pissed when he sees that, right?"

"Shouldn't you be the one angry?"

"As long as you're safe, that is all that matters to me."

"I wanna see mom."

"Too dangerous."

"You sound like Jake." I rolled my eyes

"You two have become close."

"I mean he is protecting me, might as well have some type of relationship with him."

"As long as it stays just friends."

"Dad." I rolled my eyes

"I just don't want you to get hurt, again."

"I can handle myself."

He stared at me with a small smile and loving eyes.

"You're growing up so fast."

"I miss you too dad."

"If things go as planned, you may be able to come soon."A few months ago, I would've rejoiced at the sound of going home, but now, I've grown used to this place, this town, the alone time with Jake.

 "When's soon?"

 "Hard to tell right now."

 "Can I see mom?"

"I don't want them to catch on to you and I don't want to put your mom in danger."

"You know telling me that I shouldn't do something is going to motivate me to do it."

"That's why you'll have school to distract you."

 "Whatever."

Aunt Grace walked in with Jake behind her and they both took a seat. Jake sat next to me on the couch, while Grace sat on the couch across from us and parallel to the chair my dad was sitting on.

"What are you two talking about?" Grace asked

"We were about to get into school rules." My dad answered

 "Rules?"

 "Yes, rules."

 "Like what?"

"Curfew at ten-thirty, GPA no lower than a 3.5, and you must play at least one sport."

"What? Sport? I never had to do a sport and you said my GPA had to be a 3.0."

"That was before you moved out."

"What happens if I don't do any of this?"

"Let's just hope that doesn't happen."

"Why are you being so strict all of a sudden?"

"You're not living with me anymore. I just want you to have a good future."

"It seems fine from where I'm standing."
