Thirteen

"Wanna go to the movies?" Jake asked

"Sure." I smiled

"Another scary movie?" he asked

"I think I can sit through an action film."

"Oh thank god, I really thought you were going to pick a chick flick."

"No those are old fashioned and mind controlling." I mocked

He laughed while grabbing his jacket and I followed him to the car. I was texting Snake while we rode to the theater.

'Are you going with Jake?' Snake texted me

'No' I lied

'Who are you going with?'

'Ashli'

'Ok call me when its over'

'Kk'

"Is that Snake?" Jake asked

Jake knew how Snake felt about him, but he didn't care. He didn't like Snake and thought he wasn't any better than he was. He knew how I would have to lie to Snake about who I was with just so he wouldn't get mad.

"Of course."

"Why don't you just tell him you're with me?"

"You know how he is, we'll just get into a fight."

Its been about a week since Snake and I've been together. He's a bit possessive and jealous, especially when I'm with Jake. He still doesn't know we live together and I plan to keep it that way, otherwise Snake would just pick a fight with Jake. Snake is huge and I know Jake can handle himself but I don't want them fighting.

"You shouldn't have to lie to him. If he can't handle it then break up with him."

"Its not that simple." I told him

"And why not?"

'Because I'm scared of him.' I thought

"We're complicated." I shrugged

"No he's complicated, you just go along with it."

"Maybe you guys should sit and talk it out. Try to explain to him as much as possible that he has nothing to worry about."

"Or he could stop being insecure and allow his girlfriend to hang out with whoever she wants." He argued

"Look I'm with you all the time I have to lie to him to keep the peace, but it works, that's all that matters." I gave him a reassuring smile

"Yea, whatever." He said while parking the car

He paid for our ticket then we stood in line to order some food.

"What do you want?" he asked

"I'm not hungry." I told him

"You haven't eaten in a while, you sure?" he asked

"Yea, I'm fine." I said

He looked at me with worry and concern.

"I'll eat some popcorn." I said

"Good enough." He said quietly

The movie we were watching was a sequel and Jake was summarizing the first movie so I could understand this one.

"So Marcus is innocent, right?"

"Yea, you get it."

"I do. So what's supposed to happen in this one?"

"He comes back from Italy and gets involved with the mafia."

"Okay, sounds interesting." I nodded
