"Say it again."

"You drop me off, I go inside and we go to his room. I switch out the good stuff with the bad, then I leave."

"What if he doesn't let you leave?"

"I'll ask to go to the bathroom."

"What if he won't let you go to the bathroom?"

"I'll wait five minutes for you to get me."

"What if there's no coke?"

"Offer the bad stuff as a peace offering."

"How long should it take?"

"Five minutes after I go inside."

"Are you sure you're ready?"

"Yea, I'm sure." I nodded

"How long is five minutes?"

"300 seconds, exactly."

"Say it again."

"Jake."

"I have to make sure you know what you're doing."

"I've been saying the plan for two weeks now."

"So you could say it one more time."

I grabbed his face with both of my hands before leaning in to kiss him.

"I'm ready."

He grabbed my face and moved some my hair out of the way.

"I like your hair curly, it looks natural."

"Stop changing the subject."

"I really don't think you should do this."

"It's just five minutes." I argued

"Last time you said ten, he hit you in seven."

"You have to trust me."

"It's him I don't trust."

"That's why we have to do this. We won't have to worry about him anymore."

"Just in case, take this."

He reached behind his back and pulled out a Glock 9 and placed it in my hand.

"You're giving me a gun?"

"Just in case things don't go as planned."

I took out the magazine and checked the bullets. I pushed it back in and examined it. A few months ago, I barely knew what a gun was. But now, I'm holding one with the possibility of shooting and killing someone.

"Thanks." I hugged him

"Its for me. Helps me, knowing that you have extra protection."

"Okay dad." I rolled my eyes

"I'm serious, you have to be careful."

"For the thousandth time, I will."

"Okay, go put your gun away." He chuckled

"Where do I put it?" I asked

"Somewhere only you can find it."

"Okay, I'll hide in-"

He put his index finger to my lips.

"I can't find it." He smiled

"Sloane, your dad's here!" Aunt Grace yelled

We pulled away quickly and straightened ourselves out.

"Let's go." He said

"I have to hide this first."
