Annie's face lit up as we approached Lee, her eyes sparkling with affection. They exchanged a warm greeting, their connection evident in the way they held each other's gaze. My heart swelled with happiness for them, even amidst the swirling uncertainties of my own interactions.

Lee leaned in to press a gentle kiss on Annie's cheek, a gesture filled with tenderness. I couldn't help but feel a pang of envy at their effortless display of affection, a stark contrast to the tangled mess of emotions I found myself navigating.

As Annie and Lee shared a moment, I hesitated, unsure about interrupting Isaac and Grace's conversation. Grace's presence beside Isaac felt like an obstacle, a barrier to the clarity I sought. But before I could overthink my next move, Isaac caught sight of me and flashed a warm smile, effortlessly breaking away from his conversation with Grace.

He smoothly transitioned, stepping over to greet me, effectively switching sides with Grace. The relief washed over me as Isaac enveloped me in a friendly hug, his familiar presence a comforting anchor amidst the sea of uncertainty.

"Hey there," Isaac greeted, his voice filled with genuine warmth. "What's up?"

I returned his smile, grateful for his timely intervention. "Just catching up with Annie and Lee," I replied, gesturing towards our friends.

Isaac nodded, his gaze briefly flickering towards Grace before returning to me. "Sounds good. Let's join them."

Together, we approached Annie and Lee, seamlessly integrating into their circle. As we exchanged greetings and laughter, the tension that had lingered dissipated, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and belonging. With Isaac by my side, I felt reassured, knowing that amidst the complexities of relationships and friendships, his steadfast support remained unwavering.

As Annie and Lee excused themselves, disappearing into the bustling hallway, a sudden silence descended upon Isaac and me. The weight of unspoken words hung heavy in the air, and I found myself grappling with the awkwardness of the moment.

Before I could muster the courage to break the silence, Isaac spoke up, his voice cutting through the tension like a knife. "You know, Grace was just trying to gather more information about those rumors circulating about Alex," he remarked, his tone guarded.

His words caught me off guard, and a wave of conflicting emotions washed over me. Part of me wanted to defend Grace, to justify her actions as mere curiosity in the face of gossip, but to be honest it was just a try to justify her talking to Isaac and even succeeding in it. But another part of me bristled at the implication, feeling a surge of frustration at being caught in the middle of someone else's drama, well the drama of my sisters boyfriend to be exact.

I struggled to find the right words, my mind racing with thoughts and emotions. "I understand that, but..." I began, my voice trailing off as I searched for the right words.

Isaac's expression hardened, his eyes flashing with a hint of irritation. "But what?" he pressed, his tone tinged with impatience.

I hesitated, unsure how to articulate the swirl of emotions churning inside me. "But it still feels like meddling," I admitted, my voice tinged with frustration. "And it's not fair to Alex or anyone else involved, and just think about Jackie she's-."

Isaac's jaw clenched, his gaze narrowing as he absorbed my words. "I get where you're coming from," he conceded, his tone begrudging. "But I'm sure Grace was just trying to look out for Jackie. It's not like she was spreading rumors herself."
