CHAPTER 8
I’m woken by a cannon .
I sit up with a jolt and reassure myself that Cato is still beside me.
I made love for the first time lastnight.
He took my real virginity away from me.
I can’t believe I did that on camera though.
I shake Cato awake.
“Morning gorgeous.”
“Cato , did you cover the camera last night?.”
He nods.
I exhale thankfully.
“you hungry?” I ask him.
“Yup” he says popping the P.
I hand him an apple and I eat a cracker.
“There’s only 7 left” I tell him.
“woah” Cato gasps.
“Get ready we’re going tribute hunting” I tell him.
I gather all of my weapons and food and we crawl out of the cave.
“We go up there” Cato says gesturing to the mountain with smoke rising out of it.
“But that’s a volcano?” I say.
“I know ,but ughh you’re right , we go to the grass then” Cato sighs.
We hold our main weapons in our hands as we approach the tall grass.
I hear 2 cannons and I stop and put an arrow inmy bow and wait.
Cato stands waiting for something.
“It’s the final 3” I gasp.
A flash runs past us , I think it’s Thresh , we run after him.
I turn around and see the volcano starting to erupt.
“CATO ,RUN!” I scream.
We run and run until we reacch the Cornucopia.
Thresh stands before us with just a small dagger.
“One more kill , one more kill” I whisper to myself.
I quickly get a grenade from my pocket ,grab Cato’s hand and run as I release the grenade so Thresh can blow to smithereens without myself or Cato getting hurt.
We crouch down on the ground while Thresh blows into pieces.
The explosion ends and we help each other up.
The cannon blows signalling Thresh’ death.
We sit down and wait.
The lava is now creeping through the grass and is nearly at us.
I start to panic.
I stand uup and look for a way out.
We’re stuck it’s surrounding us.
The lava stops suddenly.
“Ladies and gentlemen , may I present to you the winners of the 74th hunger games!” seneca crane shouts through the microphone.
“We did it!” I squeal.
Cato lifts me up and kisses me tenderly.
The hovercraft approches and we climb the separate ladders.
