CHAPTER 5
The 11 flashed beside my name and picture.
It looked out of place.
I gasp as everyone hollers at my high score.
All I do is put a fake smile on my face and walk to the roof.
I lean against the railing wishing I could jump over to my death , but I won’t do that because I have a baby girl and baby sister at home to look after.
I hear someone sniffing faintly.
I whip around to see the boy from District 2 glaring at the city.
“Hi ,I’m Cato” The boy says shyly.
“I’m Katniss” I say with a small smile.
“Are you ok?” I ask.
“Yeah I am now , I was just thinking about my family” he says in a small voice.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about my family as well” I say.
“I want to to my family proud” Cato says.
“Same here , I want to give them the childhood I never had” I say.
“I just wish it didn’t involve killing” Cato says.
“You aren’t like the rest of the careers are you?” I ask curiously.
“I’m not like them at all , I was actually planning on going solo during the games” Cato says.
“So would you not even consider allying with an outlying district tribute?” I ask.
“Maybe , depends what tribute you’re talking about” Cato says.
“Will you ally with me Cato?” I ask bravely.
“I’d me honoured” He says with a small ghost of a smile.
I smile at him.
“it’s a shame I didn’t meet you outside of the games because your actually a pretty good guy” I say.
“Same here” Cato sighs.
“I’m betting on you girl on fire” Cinna says.
Cinna hands me my clothes for the arena.
I pull on a navy long sleeve t-shirt , navy sweathsirt , Navy waterproof jacket with a small amount of padding , green cargo trousers with lots of pockets and a pair of tan leather boots that the tops are folded down.
Cinna braids my hair to the side and secures it in place.
Cinna pins my mockinjay pin that my father gave me before he died to my chest.
I walk over to the tube and Cinna nods at me.
The tube starts to rise.
