They walked through the door and entered what seemed to be the engine room. They stood at one end of a long catwalk that fans were hanging over and running at a normal speed.

"Is it me, or is it a bit nippy?", the Doctor started, "Fair do's, though, that's a great bit of air conditioning. Sort of nice and old-fashioned. Bet they call it retro."

"Retro's cool in clothing, music perhaps but maybe not in something our lives currently depend on", Winnie remarked, looking around at the vast ends of the room.

"Gotcha", he celebrated quietly when he pulled off a panel on the side. A metal spider scuttled out and away, "What the hell's that?"

"Is it part of the retro?", Jabe asked.

"I don't think so. Hold on", the Doctor aimed the sonic screwdriver at the spider and Jabe formed a liana from her arm to catch it, "Hey, nice liana."

"Thank you", she replied timidly, "We're not supposed to show them in public."

"Don't worry, I won't tell anybody. Winnie?", he asked for her agreement.

"My lips are sealed", she nodded and came closer.

"Now then, who's been bringing their pets on board?", he scanned the spider.

"What does it do?", Jabe asked.

"Sabotage."

"Why?", Winnie asked.

"Earth Death in ten minutes."

"The temperature's about to skyrocket", the Doctor pocketed the spider and took Winnie's hand, instructing both women, "Come on."

They ran back through corridors and found a gathering of staff in front of the Steward's office. The sun's glare shone through a small window in the door and smoke was coming out.

"Hold on. Get back", the Doctor came through and sonicked the panel by the door.

"Sun filter rising. Sun filter rising", the computer announced.

"Is the Steward in there?", Jabe asked in shock.

"Not anymore I'd say", Winnie muttered macabrely.

"You can smell him", the Doctor commented and read his newfound information, "Hold on, there's another sun filter descending."

He ran off and Winnie ran after him. This time it took more out of her because he wasn't pulling her along. Again, they ended up where they had originally arrived and the computer was already annoyingly announcing that the sun filter was descending.

"Anyone in there?", the Doctor called out as he started working the door panel.

"Let me out", Rose's voice sounded back.

"Rosie!", Winnie breathed out in worry.

"Oh, well, it would be you", the Doctor rolled his eyes.

"Save your comments and get her out of there", Winnie scolded him.

"Open the door", Rose cried.

"Hold on. Give us two ticks", he stayed calm as he kept on working.

"Get her out, Doctor, please", tears started to run down Winnie's cheeks.

"Sun filter descending. Sun filter descending", pause, "Sun filter rising. Sun filter rising", pause, "Sun filter descending."

"Just what we need", the Doctor rolled his eyes and went back to work, "The computer's getting clever."

"Stop mucking about", Rose complained.

"I'm not mucking about. It's fighting back."

"Open the door", both sisters yelled at him.
