It was 5:30 in the morning when Hunter and I woke up.

“Sometimes, you should let loose. You’re too careful around other people whenever we’re together. Ano naman kung makita tayong sabay pumasok? We’ll just say na nakita kita somewhere so I decided to give you a ride,” he explained.

I shook my head. “No. They would know. Isa pa, what are the odds na isasabay mo ako sa sasakyan mo? May sasakyan din ako.”

He chuckled. “If we want to, we can always find a way to escape their accusations. All we need to have is your willingness to risk it all.”

I rolled my eyes. “Bold of you to say that. Palibahasa’y walang mawawala sa ‘yo kapag nagkahulihan. You own the company while I’m only your employee. Ayaw kong mawalan ng trabaho.”

He laughed. “Hindi ka naman mawawalan ng trabaho, Areeya.”

I rolled my eyes once again. “Mawawalan ako ng trabaho dahil magre-resign ako. The worst thing that I don’t want to happen in my workplace is to be the topic of the century ng mga marites mong empleyado. I love my peace too much to risk it all just for a man.”

He fell silent, focusing his full attention to the road. Though, I heard him mumble.

“Just . . . for a man.”

“I might be very busy for this whole week because of the project I just closed but you can come to my office any time you want. My secretary won’t mind you at all.”

After that, he just smiled and entered his car before driving away.

I took my time soaking myself in a bathtub full of lukewarm water with my rose-scented bath bomb.

More than thirty minutes before the start of my work, umalis na ako ng condo at nag-drive papunta sa workplace.

“Magandang umaga, mahal na reyna,” I greeted her like I always used to as I put my bag on my table.
