eris erye was 12-years-old when she was reaped for the hunger games. she was the oldest in her family yet the youngest in the games. she lived with her father, mother and two younger brothers who were not at the age of reaping yet. it was her first year, and eris didn't think that she would be picked out of the bowl with many names. yet again, eris knew that the odds were never in anyone's favor.
when eris name was called, all she could hear was her mother's cry and her father trying to hush her. everyone else watched as eris walked up to those steps; her hair was done nice for today, but it's weird that you have to dress up nice for a day where you could get killed and it's the last time you get to wear it.
that year, eris won the hunger games, taking the title of youngest winner from finnick odair who won the 65th hunger games at the age of 14. after winning the games, eris was a completely different person. she was cold and there was so much blood on her hands.
but eris was determined to have lived and win, but she didn't know how fair it would've taken her. some had made nasty rumors that she wore her competition in order to show off her skills and that she was winning. but that wasn't true.
now years later, eris is 17 and she is living life. she wasn't fine but she wasn't dealing with the hunger games either. she's seen people come and go. during the 74th hunger games, a young girl just like eris, named rue was called to the games but unfortunately she didn't make it.
eris' family went to comfort rue's but what can you do or say to someone who lost their daughter at a young age. eris wondered what someone would have done for her family. but there wasn't anything anyone could do.
74th hunger games winner—katniss everdeen and peeta mellark start their tour (just like eris did when she was 12) with their first stop being at district 11, eris was curious to see these winners up close. considering they were titled the star crossed lovers from district 12 and both got to win the hunger games.
eris envied them for that. envied the fact they both got to live. but that envy would soon slip away when all former hunger games victors would be called back to the arena for the quarter quarrel.
