**Nathan's POV**
I dialled Jenny's number quickly, my heart beating quickly in my chest as it began to ring,
"Hello?" Jenny's voice said to me, sounding unsure,
"Hiya Jenny, its Nathan,"
"Oh! Nathan!" She sounded surprised, "I thought you'd forgotten about me,"
"No, never," I replied,
"Why are you phoning?" She questioned,
"I was just wondering uh, if maybe you wanted to, umm I don't know..." I stumbled nervously, not sure what to say,
"Come on, just spit it out - I don't bite,"
"Do-you-want-to-meet-up-with-me-today?" I said hurriedly in a rush, I could feel my cheeks flaming red - thank goodness Jenny wasn't here to see that, I thought fleetingly,
"Oh," she gasped, "yes of course I would!" She exclaimed happily, and with those words the pace of my heart slowed back down to normal again,
"So do you want to go out somewhere with me today?" I asked, "Or would you rather come round to my place?"
"I'd love to go out, but where?"
"Oh I have someplace in mind," I answered vaguely and she just laughed, god even her laugh sent butterflies fluttering in my stomach,
"I'll see you later then?" Jenny asked,
"Yup," I replied and then she put down the phone.
With a happy feeling surging through my body I walked out to my car, ready to head back to my flat with a huge smile plastered on my face for all the world to see.
**Saffron's POV**
Earlier this morning Jay asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with him, of course, I said yes and made my way over to the flat that he and Nathan shared, following directions that he scribbled down on a piece of paper for me.
I was greeted by Jay with a massive, almost limb-crushing hug and a ginormous smile, it made me feel so good to know that he was so happy like this, I don't know why I ever had my doubts about us.
We settled down in the living room on two large beanbags lying side by side,
"So what movie are we going to watch?" I asked,
"Well I was thinking maybe Ava-"
"No!" I exclaimed, laughing, "Not Avatar!"
"Why not?" he asked, putting on a pretend pout,
"Too predictable," I said, "and too cliched, of course you were going to say Avatar. You should have a little variation ya know,"
"But I like Avatar..." Jay replied, trying to look really sad, but it wasn't working,
"Woah underestimation of the century!" I said, "like? I think the word you're looking for is 'adore'"
"Fair point, so what will we watch?" He asks,
"You know what, you've actually got me in the mood now for some Avatar, we'll just watch that," I say to him with a smile,
"Really? YESSSSS!!!!" Jay exclaims happily and I'm not sure whether he's acting or if this really is his true reaction.
We settle down on the beanbags once more and about a quarter of the way through the movie I glance over at Jay. His arm is resting lightly on my shoulder and I can see his lips moving silently, mouthing every word. I laugh a little to myself,
"What?" He questions, amused,
"You weren't joking when you said you knew all the words, were you?" I say,
Jay just shrugs and gently pulls me in closer towards him and I smile happily to myself.
When the films is nearing its end, we both hear the door open and close, I try to get up to see who it is, but Jay just mutters,
"Its Nathan," too absorbed in the movie to do anything else. I nod my head slightly in reply and look up as Nathan saunters into the living room, he smiles a little at the sight of Jay and I curled up together, I look at him and smile back, flattening every feeling I've ever had for him, its hard, but I can do this.
"I'm just going to get a drink," I tell Jay,
"Uh huh," he mutters in reply.
I follow Nathan into their kitchen,
"I can't believe you're watching Avatar," Nathan scoffs, pointing me in the direction of the glasses,
"Me either to be honest," I say, pouring myself some water,
"Far too predictable,"
"That's what I said, but he was desperate,"
Just as I finish my sentence, Jay walks in,
"You missed the end!"
"What a shame," I say sarcastically and with a smile,
"Hey!" Jay shouts playfully, and I hear Nathan sniggering at my remark.
"Oh Nathan!" Jay says in surprise, "I didn't realise you were here," Nathan sighs in disbelief, and without giving him any time to come back with a witty comment, Jay continues and says, "so what happened?"
"What?" I ask,
"What?" Nathan also says,
"What happened?" Jay says again,
"What's happening?" I ask, still confused,
"What are you 'what-ing' for?" Jay says,
"Because I don't know what's happening!" I exclaim,
"Me either right now, you've all confused me," Nathan says bewildered,
"Ok I'll try again," Jay says,
"Don't be so vague this time please!" I say jokingly,
"Alright," Jay starts, taking a deep breath, "how did things go with Jenny?"
Jenny? Who's Jenny? I wonder quietly to myself, then it hits me, she's the girl from the other night - and I try to squash the sinking feeling inside of me. It's working...slightly.
"Great actually, better than I expected," Nathan replied, "I'm seeing her in an hours time." I look across at him and see that Nathan has a massive smile on his face, lighting up his eyes, it looks so cute I - no Saffron! Stop, just stop, you love Jay, not Nathan, you can't go around thinking things like that! And plus, Nathan likes somebody else, so just get on with your life and forget all feelings for him and concentrate on Jay, a guy who actually loves you.
"Wow that's great Nath! You better go and get ready!" Jay replies and Nathan bounds of in the other direction. I say my goodbyes to Jay and get ready for going back to my house. I thank him for a wonderful afternoon,
"Anytime," he says with a cute smile, and then waves goodbye to me out the window, making me laugh.
Just as I walk towards my car, I notice storm clouds gathering in the sky above me. Casting looming, dark shapes across the land, hurriedly, I clamber into my car just as big, fat droplets of rain cascade from the heavens, slicing through the air like knives.
