The two of them sat together. Jasper was at home, grounded for something he did earlier in the day. Monty held Theresa's hand, and she rested her head on his shoulder. The two had been flirting endlessly for the past couple of weeks. Jasper kept telling Theresa to make a move -- said that it would be worth it, but she didn't feel confident enough to do so.

"Hey, Tessa?" Monty said to her.

"Yeah?" she replied.

"What are you doing tomorrow night?"

She shrugged. "Not sure."

He hesitated, and she could see that he was getting nervous. He was shaking, and there was a hint of sweat on his brow. He stammered, trying to find the words, and Theresa couldn't help but smile.

"Are you okay, M?" she asked him, still smiling.

He plastered a smile on his face and chuckled nervously. "Ye-yeah," he stuttered in reply, "Yeah...I just...jeez."

She giggled. "You sure about that?"

"Yeah!" he exclaimed, sounding harsher than he meant to.

Theresa couldn't help but jump at the sudden shout from her best friend. Her smile slowly disappeared and she withdrew her hand from his.

He sighed and ran his hands through his hair out of frustration. "I'm sorry," he apologized. "I'm terrible at this."

"What is it, M?" she asked, concern in her voice.

He hesitated again, but he looked at her this time -- really looked at her. "I...I...I really like you, Tessa. I wanted to know if you -- I don't know...maybe wanted to go on a date with me."

She stared at him for a few minutes, and Monty started to grow even more nervous than he already was -- she could see it in his eyes.

"I shouldn't have said anything," he said, admitting his defeat.

Theresa took his hand again and smiled at him. "I thought you would never ask."

"This way!" someone yelled. She didn't know where Finn was or what was happening to him. One of the guards had followed Theresa into the woods. She was only a few hundred meters ahead of them, but they were gaining quickly.

Then the arrows started to fly. Screams of anguish could be heard behind her; one of the guards had been hit. Theresa fell to the ground, hiding behind a fallen tree. She looked for the origin of the arrows and found her answer hidden in the top of one of the trees.

Guards began to shoot their guns. The sound of gunshots echoed in the night, and birds flew through the forest. Theresa thought back to the first night she spent in confinement -- how she saw the stars out of the tiny window in her cell.

Then she thought about her first night on Earth. The stars looked much smaller than they did in space. In her opinion, the stars looked prettier on Earth than they did in space. On Earth, they couldn't be seen for what they actually were -- burning rocks.
