A Tribute to Coffee

"I have measured out my life with coffee spoons." - T.S. Eliot

I know why the world was made, and it certainly wasn't for tea,

Instead, the ever-lasting, strong taste of gorgeous coffee!

Originating a thousand years ago in Ethopia,

But I think it's actually come from Utopia.

Espresso: "the strong" and cappuccino: "the milk",

Either way, it's like drinking silk.

Known throughout the world, for everyone to enjoy,

Drank from the oldest woman to the youngest boy.

Sold in every cafe, restaurant or corner shop,

This beverage is something you wouldn't want to drop.

Instant coffee - pour, boil, scoop, add and stir,

Or coffee made especially for you, you may prefer?

Would you like white, just sugar or black?

Biscuits to dip in, or perhaps another snack?

There are many decisions that you must make,

But I promise you, not one will turn out fake.

The kettle, cup and saucer remains loyal,

Offered to every known begger and royal.

The magical combination was made with love,

And not a single person can ever have enough.

And who made this divine taste? I ask,

Because not everyone is up to the task.

I'm sorry: their name must have slipped my mind,

But they contributed an awful lot to mankind.
