Hold me in your arms tonight.
Take away the nightmares of that fight.
Where I screamed for them to stop
While they drove me into the dark.
Hold me in your arms tonight.
Shield me from the power of light
That can break away the putrid night.
Don't you long to be apart?
Lift me with your arms this once.
Carry me over the ice
Of my melting heart that is sinking now
As I try desperately not to question how.
Carve yourself into my heart.
Never do I want to be apart
From you and your warmest touch
Forever and always as we sit on that branch.
Let our feathers fall away.
Naked in the summer's day.
Desperate for the tender word,
That will strike my broken heart's cord.
As we are together at last,
We can discard the horrid past.
You have never given up,
So, tonight, I'll reward you by closing the gap.
