On a brink

I stand outside in the pouring rain,

Watching through the window with my heart in pain.

Did not trust him then, will not trust him now.

I feel that I'm seeing this scene from somewhere above.

He was holding her in a tight embrace.

All I needed then was to punch his face.

My heart screamed out a strangled 'Ow',

What will I do with my life now?

Did you have to lie?

Did you have to divide?

I am broken inside,

Because of your pride.

Did you have to pick?

Did you even think?

What'll become of us,

While I'm here on the brink!

This estranged place we have found ourselves in,

Was digging my grave because of your sin,

Would the Devil come and take you with him?

Or maybe I should take your new car for a spin...

With one lightning strike, the demon will rise.

It will rear its head and claim its prize.

Will this nightmarish dream ever come to an end?

Or will I hold this knife while you defend?

Did you have to lie?

Did you have to divide?

I am broken inside,

Because of your pride.

Did you have to pick?

Did you even think?

What'll become of us,

While I'm here on the brink!

We're together now and you come into the room,

Feeling rather happy and expecting me to swoon.

What you don't know is that I know it all,

So starting tomorrow it will be your downfall.

You reach out to me with a tender caress.

All I wish for now is the strength to express.

Shouldn't have loved you then, shouldn't love you now,

My heart's breaking open forcing me to bow.

Starting now you can lie.

Starting now we divide.

Yet, I am still broken inside

Because of your pride.

Starting now you can pick.

You don't have to think.

It is over between us,

I have fallen quick.
